You're amazing Jonas! These devlogs are a wonderful look into indie dev, and a huge inspiration for people like me who love gaming and also dream of creating their own experiences. I'm trying to learn Unreal as a solo dev, and although It's always hard and often confusing, videos like yours drive my passion even further, and I'm very grateful for that. Huge W game and channel, I can't wait to see what new projects and ideas you come up with! Personally, I'd love to see you take a simple PvP multiplayer game and really dive into how you solved all the intricate networking / programming quirks of multiplayer. Anyway, much love, respect, and admiration - a happy fan and hopefully one day, peer :)
Jonas has the nicest way of editing his videos the perfect balance between life, humor and game development is perfect the only thing I wish for is that the moments of life to breathe a bit more. But I get that's not for everyone.
I really admire how honest this devlog is, and its really nice to see how healthy your approach towards your work and hobbies is. I hope you enjoy your break, and congratulations on everything. You're a huge insipiration for a lot of people
Congrats on 1.0! It's been an absolute blast following along with this adventure. You guys can be incredibly proud of what you've achieved. Enjoy a well-deserved break, I'm excited to see what will come next!
i love how there is a lot of the style of the older videos in this one. makes it actualy nostalgic in a way. also remindet me how i first came across Jonas old german channel and then also wanted to start making games
I just wanted to come in here and congratulate you on the completion of Thronefall! Thank you for the motivation you bring. You were part of what inspired me to start game development, and now my first Steam game is releasing in 2 months!
Jonas, when you started this dev vlog series, I was doing my little side project to have a better portfolio to look for a programming job. I got inspired in some of the things you implemented in thronefall. Today, we are 10 people working on that little project. It has become a monster of a project (and maybe should reconsider the scope...) and I can't really thank you enough for making these videos and being part of this devlog series along with the already awesome game you created. I wish you all the success in your future endeavours. You totally deserve it. The more I spend time with my current game, the more I respect your work. Making games is hard and only people who have tried really understands the true weight of this statement. Keep being awesome!
Cooperating in bigger teams is also a massive challenge so let me just tip my hat back at'ya! Happy to hear you found some inspiration in my work. Much appreciated!! :)
Enjoy your break! Some words of gratitude: For me your channel is the most valuable game design resource out there - I know of no other indie game dev channel with a better track record of creating successful games that rely on fun gameplay. This really backs up your insights. I also appreciate your calm and honest vibe, it makes the points you make that much more valuable. :)
You've been a major inspiration to me starting my own journey. Take whatever time you need, but looking forward to following whatever project you undertake next!
Yay I love these! And I loved the recent stream. Thank you for being an inspiration! Mark my words I will make a hit game using the strategies you outline in your videos. Cheers!
What a beautiful send off to a wonderful devlog and game. I'm beyond stoked for you after watching your work for years and years now. May your next adventure bring you all the good fortune you could hope for, thanks for the journey, Jonas!
Hey, Jonas. I'm a solo dev who's struggling to keep up with my games and consistently creating devlogs (on another channel) because of time constraints, and seeing this final devlog made me inspired to work on my games so that I can build an audience and following just like yours. Keep up the good work, Jonas.
when i was starting out doing coding, i found your 2nd will you snail video and i was like "That is so cool" and started to motivate me to make more! Thx for sticking around for me to keep going :)
I really enjoyed this style of video, very calming yet engaging anyway! I hope you do another video talking about how your game launch went, would be very interesting to hear about different it was first launching it as early access, how much you did for marketing, split profits and such. The one about WYS is one of my favourite videos you've made, and this time it seems that your game was even more of a success! Anyway, enjoy your break-you deserve it. I'll be looking forward to whenever you come back for another adventure! 💛
Jonas, I've been watching your channel for a long time now and you inspired me to start my own game dev journey some time ago. I even took part in the Wowie! Jam 3.0 (btw, when's the next one? 🥺) and built my first "real" game ever. Seeing you like this, happy to have finished another project, makes me really happy too. Take a break, enjoy life and once recharged, come back stronger than ever ♥
SO PROUD FOR YOU! I just want you to know that you've got me into game dev and now I have a community of over 1000 people supporting my journey. Thank you so much, can't wait for the next adventure :)
I don't want the development to end 😭 If only there was a level creator/editor toolkit the community can have and go crazy with, that would be the greatest parting gift all Thronefallers would love.
Three years??? Last I remember, WYS came out 2 years ago and the first devlog was 1 year ago, has this rlly been in the works for so long??? I like this game even more lmao
Can't wait for your next project. Your fresh Ideas are so interesting to me. But for now enjoy your well deserved break while I enjoy your well made game😊
Hi Jonas, I just want to say that I've really enjoyed following this development, and it has inspired me to take on this journey for myself (with zero exp). I purchased the game a while back and will have to now pick it up and play it! I'm sure it will be a blast; I look forward to your future developments.
0:37 - Oh my, I am sititing EXACTLY like this right now as I am watching this, I do it with the left foot though. Glad people also do weird poses sometimes. Anyway, congratulations! 🥳🎉
Very random, but thanks a ton for sharing your YT stats. It made me feel a lot better about my channel, which I've neglected over the past months. "SO let's just not do that" regarding fulltime YT is also a great statement. I decided to look at it like that as well. Good luck with the rest of the year and enjoy your break
Didn't know you made thronefall.. great effort, very nice game, congratz... !!!A collosal success for an indie!!!! I bought that game few months ago for the reference and the feel :) and I liked it... Fellow dev here, congrats once again.
10:05 What a great thing to do right after releasing a game! Surely no critical bugs and other issues will be found in the next year and, of course, you won't be bullied into making another level editor.
Remember when you had a couple hundred subs and made game with Blackthornprod for the 2019 GMTK game jam? Now you have 2 hit games and 2 with a strong community. It's insane.
Ever since I started watching your channel you have been my role model, a guy from Europe just like me who doesn't know a lot about all the business side of game dev and just wants to make games every day because he loves it
Happy to hear that. I would be hoping that I'm starting to pick up some things about the business side, haha, but yes, there is much much more to learn. 😬
It's so cool that you're doing martial arts. I feel like it's rare to have this opinion but to me doing martial arts is more fun than mindlessly lifting weights.
