MAKING ORDER - Carol C Spaulding @ BLK/MRKT 

The pieces in the exhibition MAKING ORDER are the result of a recurring exploration by Carol C Spaulding.
“In my life and in my work, I feel that I am constantly trying to make order. Reducing, simplifying, clarifying, decluttering. Somehow I think that is related to why I am so drawn to geometric shapes. Compressed, clear, definite. I consider it a form of meditation for me, focused and somehow calming.”
Spaulding plays with shape and colorful form, getting them to work together in composition. Not purely geometric, and not completely abstract, they float between genres. The exhibition contains a combination of oil paintings, collages, and gouaches that intimately relate to each other.
A meet the artist reception will be Sunday, September 13 from 4pm to 6pm at BLK MRKT 144 Hall St. in Traverse City.
