This has been such a long time coming. I’ve cleaned these old culverts since I was a kid after floods and finally it is no more! Super happy with how it has turned out, we have had plenty of rain since this was done and I’ve been able to drive my little car through every time! Thanks for watching and joining us on our journey of building our homestead and making my childhood home ours! Please support our channel and hit that like button and Subscribe!

Nice video. We have a similar creek crossing. Our creek goes from bone dry to 8 feet deep during heavy rains. I widened the channel as you have to slow the current down. Having said that with the amount of water born debris evident in your video it will continue to work its magic and want to clog things up. Additionally depending on the velocity of the current it may tend to scour the creek bed along with the stone you put in. It looks like you have plenty of large stones there. You may consider having your contractor pull the 1-1/2 inch back and then dump a quantity of cement block size rocks in the creek bed and along the sides as riprap. He can imbed the larger rocks in the creek bed and then use the smaller stuff to fill in the voids to smooth out the crossing. Its how the romans did it.

That’s how ours is we are lucky if there’s even water 300 days out of the year. We might eventually put a couple 12 inch pipes and concrete over that but for now we are gonna keep it how it is. It has done great with almost an inch of rain. Very little water coming through and no rock has washed and my little neon still makes it haha
