This truck was going a little too fast on the ice and lost control. Luckily no one got hurt when he crashed into the shoulder, but the truck did receive some damage. So I brought the @zackliftinternational4841 out to get is truck straightened back around and pulled up onto the road

Lucky there was no traffic while you were doing the pull. Everything went just like you planned it to go. Couldn't have been any smoother equipment wise and you did the pull without any additional tractor damage. First rate save for the customer.

@ky.gambler5281

@@alanclarke2524 at around freezing there's water on the ice, it's not as bad frozen harder than with water on it, plus the snow is firmer and better traction
@_Bastardly_
@_Bastardly_ 4 месяца назад
@@alanclarke2524 it's not completely frozen & it takes too long for the water to freeze on the roads at the warmer temps and as a driver you want the temps to drop so the ice will become sticky... but that works both ways, on the way down when it freezes and on the way up while it is thawing Basically there is still a layer of water on top making it very, very slippery where as once it freezes the ice is sticky and its basically like driving on dry pavement - if you watch water turn to ice freeze in your freezer you can see the same effect/different stages & feel of the ice
@GavinEarnshaw
@GavinEarnshaw 4 месяца назад
@@alanclarke2524 it's why the UK grinds to a halt when we get a little icy weather. When the road is just below freezing and you get some rain or it just starts to melt, you get this wet slick ice which has very little grip. Also we (UK) seem to *need* super big alloy wheels and tyres suitable for 168mph (v or w rating). Rubber is too hard when cold (4⁰C) and just bands of rubber. Hence why there is talk of mid European winter tyres designed for slush and this kind of cold.

@@clivehorridge Too much of a hurry to toss it out and forgot to turn it on, but at least he got the orange one sorted before he tossed both. I've had one for many years and they are brilliant, as they also have a recharging facility if you insert rechargeable batteries - unlike the alkaline one's I currently have had in mine, for some 15 - 20 years now - (and they're still usable as the LED's take very little current to operate). I recently discovered an auction on Trade Me (a New Zealand, Australia - and looks like it's going all over the world now too - that started life as a local auction website), some six & eight pack toolboxes, that are fully rechargeable from the vehicle's electrics or from general household power, but as I am not into much driving now that I have a wheelchair & prosthetic leg etc., I haven't bought a pack yet, which I think everyone should look into getting, if doing a lot of snow & ice - high country &/or deep-inland off-road driving... ie: Such as this Six Pack: www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/car-parts-accessories/safety/listing/4542002361 Many different websites have a lot of varieties, but they all do the same single thing, they alert other drivers to a roadside crash or accident site, or other "on-&-off" road driving hazard, long before they arrive at the actual site. I've even put them on top of cars I have long-rope flat-towed, as well as on top of my own "A-Framed second vehicle", that I (as a single / on own driver) needed to tow somewhere or to bring back, without driving it myself.? How does one person drive two vehicles eh ?? So yeah, I made my own A-Frame away back in 2002 when I bought a 1996 Delica 4wd Van - and still had my smaller (1st Gen Delica) Colt T-120-Y flat-deck truck, that I frequently flat-towed via A-Frame, around the farm colleting gates and or firewood etc., or flat-towed it for miles at a time - getting stuff from here to there & back again, just because I could.. My longest trip was in late 2003, when I flat towed it all the way to (AND BACK FROM), a sawmill in Tapanui, West Otago NZ, (taking the shortcut over the top of the Moa Flat hills) where I overloaded it with about 1.5 ton of macrocarpa beams etc, when we did our major house alterations here in Roxburgh, with the Colt, (no one inside) being A-Frame flat towed behind the Delica 4wd Van, after being fully bedded down onto it's suspension blocks, and with the over inflated tires, almost running flat? I dragged that sucker there and back without a sweat as if it were a mere trailer, as that was what I used it as, long enough with front to back load bars to sit it all upon. I have a video somewhere (on my main channel via www.L84DNR.co.nz ) that displays the old 1978 Colt - as I sold it here back in March 2017 ? Gezzsh all that long ago... And it still ran - with no maintenance done. re: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OrnsIw5oA5g.html

Excellent work as always Casey. I wonder if this trucker understood he had a way above average and skilled guy helping him. Not to mention the great equipment you have.

Having grown up in that kind of weather and conditions, I just love seeing a guy who's not bothered by the slippery conditions, and having the right equipment and lots of caution gets on with the job. You are beyond good and into great!

Casey that Zacklift is one cool peice of equipment. Happy to hear that everyone was ok and minimal damage to the truck. What were the lights that you tossed onto the highway? They seem to be better than the reflective triangles for accidents . Great video.

Casey can you imagine if you could free spool and move your rig forward say 5-10 ft from the remote? That would be very cool. Good job.

Casey, speaking of the remote for the winch. Do you know the range of it? It looks like you've been 100' away in some shots.

Plowed snow for Highways 2003-2008 in central BC and we began seeing this kind of weather far more than the years prior. At times you were 2-3 inches of ice over all the sand that had been put down. Our roads are bad enough without that. It was the full spectrum from scary to FRIGHTENING and it is happening consistently at this time. Safe journeys brother.

Casey do you ever tell the truck drivers about the chains you have on your truck and how good they are

Good morning Casey! You make it look easy, but the truth is that there is a LOT of things to consider when recovering any vehicle. That definitely was a pretty barren stretch of highway. We have had the same crappy weather Up North of the East Coast. It is alternating between subzero weather with blowing snow and then a few days later 40s with heavy rain and flooding. I thought of you yesterday when I was traveling on the Interstate and came across a tow truck that was trying to help a vehicle that was in the break down lane. A couple of vehicles in front of me did not change to the passing lane to create a distance between them and the emergency vehicle, instead just zooming by in the driving lane putting everybody in the break down lane in danger. I have a question for you Casey. From your experience does a Semi Truck have less traction with super singles on the drive wheels verses dually's? It seems to be like the super singles would have a lot less traction.. Thanks for taking us along Casey and thumbs UP! 👍
@CaseyLaDelle

Super singles are less traction on the road. They usually spin out pretty easy

That Zacklift packs enough shock and awe to make the experience memorable for sure. It will take your brand next level. It looks like half the fun is getting to use such a fine piece of machinery for your job. I get excited over it and I'm all the way over here in NY. lol.
