Biggest issue with not having food and other things has absolutely nothing to do with distance from the marketplace. 1 marketplace can almost cover the entire region. The problem is, the villagers are doing way way way too many things and they can’t focus on being at the market place or going to the market place. If you have your villagers tending to backyard upgrades, working a trade route, AND they have a market stall, they won’t be able to do all of that. Micro managing our villagers is huge. If you have villagers working a trading post AND they have an upgrade at their house, they won’t be efficient at either of those. Villagers working in trade post, warehouses, granaries, and other buildings like that should live in houses that DO NOT have backyard upgrades. Same for the villagers working storage buildings. This will allow them to gather the supplies then go work at the market. Keep in mind if you only have 1 family working storage, they will pick 1 item from said storage to sell at a market. If you need 2 or 3 foods then make sure you have 2 or 3 families in your granary. Villagers working seasonal stuff should have backyard upgrades. If they are gathering berries, chickens is the best choice. If you have veggies in the backyard of berry gatherers then they will be doing noting in the winter. For hunters veggies is a great choice. You could also focus specifically on veggies or chickens by making large backyard upgrades and only having your unassigned families in those houses. This will allow them to focus on chicken or veggies until something needs to be built. Again, look at what you have them doing. Backyard upgrades take away so much efficiency from families needed for other jobs. If they are making something that you currently do not have a vendor for in your storage, then not only are they wasting time tending to the backyard but they are also wasting time with a marketplace stall.

The market has unlimited range, it just supplies the homes closest first, so the ones further away will be missing out unless you have a huge supply.

@@TalesOfWar And unfortunately that supply logic is done by each market individually at the moment. So when you have your market separated into 2 or more different market places, every one of them will supply the houses nearest to them. But as the total number of goods available for all markets is global for the region, you get multiple homes that get the same good supplied by more than one market. That way, there will always be houses that don't get anything.

@@TalesOfWar The market only sells the goods. It is totally dependent on when someone from the household can go to the market and buy the goods as well as someone being able to staff the stall. While yes, typically those right next to it can quickly go over and buy stuff, you will also see times that is not the case. Hence why this demand fluctuates when looking at the house needs. If you had a family only focused on storage duties, with no backyard upgrade, this demand does not fluctuate nearly as much. The family only has to split duties between gathering from the other buildings and having someone in the stall. If you add a backyard upgrade, depending on what it is and how big it is, now they have to split it across all 3. The bigger that upgrade area is, the more time they have to split. Nothing says you have to upgrade every house to level 2 or 3. Leave some houses as level 1 with no backyard upgrades and have them focus on working trade routes or storage/market stalls. This will ensure the storage is staying stocked and someone is always in the stall selling it. For your granary, at the very beginning make sure you put 2 families in it. One for meat and one for berries. If you start making veggies at any house, that family will now have to tend to that AND sell them AND do whatever else you have them assigned to. So you are only going to get a few veggies, whichever house gets there first will show a 2nd food source. Could be the one across the street or a different one. So yes houses further away have a smaller window to get there before they are all gone. Where as, that wouldn’t matter if the only thing that family was doing was making veggies.

Here is a quick example you often see in the beginning. You are having fuel issues pop up. Typically this starts to pop up because your 1 woodcutter family not only has to go cut the wood and make the firewood but also has to go sell it at a market. So those duties are split between the initial 3 people. While they can keep up with this initially, it becomes hard to do as your town grows. Then if you add a veggie upgrade to their house, those same 3 people now have to split their duties between cutting the wood, selling it at a stall, tending to the backyard, and now selling the veggies at a stall since you most likely only have 1 family in the granary and they are selling berries or meat. While yes they will do this, they aren’t getting nearly as much from either resulting in them selling less of each. This is when you start to see the fuel fluctuate in the house needs. Whereas, if you only had that family cutting wood and making firewood you would be able to have 1 family do this efficiently. Have another family working the storage and selling it, and both families are living in a house that doesn’t have a backyard upgrade. Low fuel won’t ever be an issue. Simply adding a backyard upgrade to either of them throws a wrench into the whole thing.

BIFFA, the .5x means, however many sending goods are traded, you get that amount in receiving goods. At .5x, 2 planks sent = 1 bread received. Visa versa, at 2x, for every 1 bread sent, they get 2 planks in return.

The goods brought in by the battering stations goes into your store house or granary. You only "loose" a family when you turn them into artisans. The veg, chickens and Goat upgrades don't count as artisan upgrades that's why the family can still have other jobs.

Biffa just a little piece of info about the size of your Burgage plots. Don't make them any bigger then 0.5 Morgan in size. Anything bigger will effect the performance of your villagers on them thus leading to crops and causing them to spent less time are more important things you have them assigned yoo.

I am watching a couple of channels playing manir lords and what i have taken on is that you need to mamage your logistics for larger towns. You need pack animals and store workers to bring in and then distribute everything. An extra ox is also very helpful for construction. Thanks for the fabby episodes!

the barter value is, "for every x sent, you get .5x back" also you don't _need_ a mule for it to work, but they'll haul in a rucksack so can't carry as much, thus a mule is a good idea. Also, they go directly to the storehouses.

The first pack station have the mules, so if you pause you can pause the other ones. The stable assigned to the mules don’t need worker You can assign job based on the burgage plots, so assigning workers living close to their workplace will increase logistics The vegetable chicken and goat sheds require the people to work beside their assigned jobs. So making the carrot household unassigned you can make them builders so that they would get more time to attend to the fields. May your carrot field grow larger ❤

If you put more workers into the warehouse and granary they. will set up more market stalls and your distribution of food and wood should get better. If you have too few stalls, they can't refill the stalls fast enough to service everyone.

The foragers huts are dormant in the winter. The berries stop growing at the start of winter and won’t grow again until spring so you can take all families off gathering for the winter to do other tasks.

You don't need families in the stables, just like the church. If you have it unassigned, people will use them as and when needed.

I got this from somebody else but apparently the stable workers will lead your unassigned oxen so you want some, else the oxen will often be waiting around doing nothing. My people seemed to build faster after I assigned families to them. Placebo or not, IDK.

To me, it would make sense to barter charcoal for firewood between the regions. Zweiu can't make charcoal, and you could use the wood splitter in the other region for another job, maybe another charcoal maker to increase production

I have restarted my city so often because I talked myself into or out of something and destroyed my economy. I now have 300+ sheep and can’t sell to save the poor citizens of Hades from the impending stampede. Great video as always!

It is actually the opposite in both pack stations - the bread is twice as cheap as planks. The difference is that in one of the towns you are exporting and in the other one importing 😉

Lil tip sawmills only need one family in them because only One Person can work the sawmill. So better to build more sawmills with 1 family per

If you want to stop the production of some workshop, just take the worker out and not pause the workshop. Maybe that's why it shows loading / clock symbol

User by the name TactiCat has spent hours exploring the game. They say its currently very broken. Trade between regions doesn't work. The reason why you have so many vegetables is because ppl eat food in specific order....meat and berries first. So if you have enough meat and berries, ppl wont eat veggies. Ect.

The food thing is right, but I definitely have trade going on between regions. E.g. I had one region importing barley. With the tariff, it decimated the regional wealth. I then had another region start exporting and now the original region isn't spending nearly as much.

Curious if anyone here knows this answer. I've got one built up with 3 regions developed and was trying to see if I could use the regular Trading to get goods between different regions. For example, I have one region selling one good to the Trading posts and then another region buying that goods. I was curious if this would help offset the prices tanking by one region flooding the market with a good over time. I can't really tell if each regions trading economy is connected or if they are all completely separated.

They're connected. The market is shared, and if one region imports a good that another exports, they'll trade with each other and you won't pay the import tariff (you can actually see this in the trade post prices after you set up the export).

These plots to feed villages makes farm homes obsolete. There's really 0 need for anything other than these home plots. Once you make 1 large enough with 2 dedicated families just focus on firewood production. I did this and let the game idle for a few hours and with 5 plots with level 2 homes with 2 families each I had hundreds of food reserves

A question for other players. Has anyone else tried to play this without bandits? Did that work? I don't like fighting and disliked those thieving bandits, so I restarted a new relaxed game without an off-map adversary, with no starting bandit camps, and 0 as the maximum amount of bandit camps that can spawn. I did set the well on underground water and weather on balanced to keep it fair - take out one difficulty, add another back in. But from year 3 on I got bandits stealing from me anyway; chasing them off got 2 of my 20 militia villagers killed, and as soon as we'd claimed the bandit loot I got a message that another bandit camp had been spotted, all the way across the map. Is the purely relaxed building option without fighting bandits bugged for other players, or is something wrong with just my game?

Love this game! However, sadly it becomes unplayable after you win with that victory screen popping up over and over again. Clicking on "continue playing in sandbox mode" has no effect it seems... 🤷‍♂

BTW, easy way to see how much space you have is the third number by the house symbol which was 20. And the first 2 numbers added together are your number of families. So you had 20 families and 20 living spaces so nobody could move in :)

It takes some getting used to and is a bit clunky. There is thankfully another approach, using the trade system. If you're exporting from one town you can buy it from your other. You do not pay the +10 gold tarrif for foreign imports, no specialization needed. If you don't know about that I hope it helps! I find it gives far better control

The language is based on Germanic/Scandinavian, so the letter "J" is pronounced as a "Y." So, Jorg is pronounced "Yorg."

Just excitement as it's something different to try. We don't get stuff like this very often, i think most releases are celebrated. Stuff like workers and resources is a bit more developed if you're wanting something more involved you might not have tried.

I respect what you're saying but my brain works differently when it comes to this game. I maxed out a town and immediately started another one to utilize what I learned and do it faster. Now I've started a more aggressive ai playthrough. After this I want to combine all the learnings into the hardest possible scenario and rush a 108 unit military + full retinue ASAP. I have fun trying different town optimizations and I could play another 40 hours no problem!

6 times? Not quite- in practice you are unlikely to use more than 3 and only have one major city, the rest are for conquering. The other towns you make are much faster and more like setting up your base in age of empires 2 (which you do every half an hour start from scratch) It absolutely could do with more meat on the bones, but the bones are good. I'd have agreed but I played a little more and realised just how quickly you build up with a few tries and that the pacing is much different to city builders. It still might not be the game for you of course. It plays better as a faster paced game than a manicured city to me.
