Witch glue do you recommend for this cuz I want to make a bracelet. I have a quartz in the shape of a turtle and there is a hole in the front and back and I want to glue a little pin thingy in there so I can hang it on the bracelet
@oakknobrocks1772
@oakknobrocks1772 3 года назад
Any quality 2 part epoxy should work. I'm pretty sure I used Gorilla glue on this particular batch. It takes about 48 hours to dry fully (twice what they say on package) because neither surface is porous. They do make specialty jewelry epoxy, too, but I haven't tried one yet

I have this model here: www.amazon.com/dp/B000RH36WU/ref=nav_timeline_asin?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 It's only $40, and so much safer than using electric tools. I have had zero issues so far. I just put a few drops of oil in it every time I use it (In the air inlet) like you would with any pneumatic tool

Quick question? Why do home jewelers drill in water instead of using something to clasp the stone?
@oakknobrocks1772
@oakknobrocks1772 2 года назад
The water keeps the drill bit cool. If you drill dry it will overheat and ruin the bit

Is it possible to make/carve/file one side of the stone (by stone I mean tumbled stone) to become flat from one side. I have a few tumbled stones that I would love to look into mainly flattening on one side so it lays flat. If thats possible, could I manipulate the shape? For example make it more oval, circular, or even heart shaped? I would greatly appreciate you taking the time to respond me, I've googled it but it seems all google is interesting in is selling me stuff.
@oakknobrocks1772
@oakknobrocks1772 2 года назад
that's absolutely possible. Look for a "cabbing machine" (cabochon) and making cabochons. they are a machine that looks like a bench grinder with 4-6 wheels on it. they can do some really elaborate shaping, and you can actually do the full polishing with it, and don't need to tumble at all
@mabuhayPinay
