Thank you so much Kimberlie - this means so much to me!! I was so thrilled when my husband told me his idea, and it worked, and it's so easy!! Have a great day!! 😊💖
Thank you!!! I recently started making pom poms and NOTHING I tried stopped strands from easily falling/pulled out. I had given up. So happy I found your video. ❤🎉 And thanks to your hubby. 😀
I was screaming at the phone...glue...finger!!! 😅😅😅 Bless you. You're adorable, hilarious, and incredibly helpful. Thank you Grace! ❤ Beautiful story btw.
Very helpful information.. you cracked me up when you said ‘what he know about crafting’ . I gave the same reaction whenever my husband give me advice about crafting too 🤣🤣. Great video
This is an old video but so timely. I made a hat for someone and their Pom Pom did come undone. I was sitting here trying to think of another way to make a Pom Pom so that would not happen again and then I saw your video. You saved my sanity. This is the exact reason I buy the faux Pom poms for my hats but sometimes you want to match the yarn . 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️
Yes, it is old, but it's the best way I have found to keep those pompoms together to this day 😊 I was so happy when my husband gave me the idea - it works like a charm! You are so right, some hats look better with a pompom with matching yarn or a coordinating color. 💕🙏💖🙏
Hi Grace. I laughed hysterically when you were referring to your husband and said (probably under your breath) "What do you know about crafting?" You are such a stitch. I just love watching you. I have Clover pompom makers myself, and I can guarantee I'll be using this method for my pompoms. My husband has black zip ties all over the basement and garage, so I know I don't even need to go shopping for them. I want to say also that not only did I learn how to make a tighter pompom, but the tip about holding two strands of different colored yarns together to make a pompom is brilliant; and then your entertainment factor added in is always a plus when you struggle with something or something isn't working just right because you are on camera and wish for it to. That's just life and it happens to all of us, but I love that you can laugh and joke about it with us. Have a great rest-of-your week and a wonderful weekend, dear friend.
Hi Cindy!!! I am so glad you got a good laugh, because laughter really is the best medicine, even when you burn yourself - LOL!!! I have to admit, that he did have a brilliant idea with this one, even if he can't craft - haha!! I couldn't even think of the word zip tie, because my husband calls them tie straps ALL THE TIME!! He is corrupting my use of the English language - argh!! I think teaching school helped me to learn to laugh at myself, because you never knew what was going to happen in front of the kids, so might as well laugh!! The kids and I have had some great laughs at my expense :-D Hope you have a fabulous end-of-week and weekend too, my sweet friend! xxx
LOL!!! It's fun to laugh together, that's for sure!! The kids were laughing with me, because, as I've said before - I'm a total klutz!! I need to share more stories with you guys of some of my experiences - haha!!! Always love hearing from you Cindy!!
I like the idea you first shared. I’m not using a Pom maker and this not only keeps the Pom from pulling apart but it makes it more full. If I do more poms I will look into getting a maker but til then this works well! Thank you
Loved this! Your humor is just what I needed. And you saved my project! Making hats for newborns. I made several Poms Poms for the hats only to discover I could pull them apart! Have a deadline to meet so hopefully I can still get done in time. Thank You so much. Being able to get a good laugh and a solution made me so happy.
Thank you!! I'm glad I was able to help you out and give you a giggle for the day!! I always try and keep it real and it really was kind of funny - LOL!! Good luck meeting your deadline!!
HOLY MACARONI, this is GENIUS!! My compliments to your husband. This hack works perfectly. I didn’t even get through your video before I ran in the kitchen and rampaged through my catch all drawer and found a pretty small zip tie and tried it. It worked great. Thank you so much. I am making beanies for my nieces (they are 1ish) and was worried about the poms coming apart. Not anymore 😊.
I was thrilled when he gave me this idea! I would never have thought of it without him LOL!! I'm so glad that you like it - it is so much easier than trying to tie those knots and then the pieces coming out! Have fun. 💖
Hurray, at last a tutorial that acknowledges pom poms pull apart!🤣 I realise that I not only don't wrap fat enough, I don't tie enough. But the tie idea is fabulous, I will check Amazon out, I'm in UK and we don't have Dollar Tree. I love the Clover pom pom makers, but have been very frustrated at the falling apart! Great tutorial Grace, love that name story, and all the klutz, as I do the very same! 😍🤣
Hi Elizabeth!!! I was going crazy with my pom poms falling apart LOL!!! There is no way to tie those fat ones tight enough, so the zip ties cinch it down nice and tight. If the pom poms aren't too big, using cotton crochet thread works pretty good, but you really have to pull it tight. Thank you for your kind words!! I'm glad I'm not the only klutz around here LOL.
Thank you so much for your kind words :) I was on a mission, it was driving me crazy!! Just a simple zip tie, and there's a pom pom ready to use!! You are so welcome!! xoxo Grace
Thanks for your most enjoyable tutorial and valuable tips! I just got an idea as I watched you swaying the pompom... With the right yarn, you can make decorations for a Christmas tree 🎄
Thank you so much, Grace!!! I've just started making pom poms with the Clover pom pom makers, and the first few were fine, but I noticed when I started making the bigger ones, they would pull apart. Your video has been the best informative (and funny) LOL I've seen out of many!!! I tried the double end tying today, and they were still pulling apart, so I'm going to try the strap ties and the glue gun tomorrow. Thanks again!!! I'm also following you now 🥰
I'm so glad my video helped you out and gave you a little laugh ( I'm dangerous around hot glue guns LOL) Good luck with your pompoms and thanks for the follow!! 💖
Love that you show how you are a normal person that does have issues from time to time. Most of the videos I see the people do everything so perfect so quickly to the point I feel I won't be able to do it, so I don't even try. But you make me feel comfortable with attempting this because I have several options to make the poms, especially with items I (by I, I mean taking my husband's zip ties lol) already have at home. Thank you,!
Thank you so much for your kind comment!! I believe in showing it like it is - lol!!! I love it - "mean taking my husband's zip ties" - that's great!! You have made my day :) -Grace
I'm so glad to bring a smile to your face - LOL!!! I am such a klutz, and I don't mind showing the world - let's all laugh together!!! I still can't believe I stuck my finger in that huge glob of hot glue - but it's so like me! Love you too Zee, my beautiful, sweet friend. Hope you are having an amazing day and that your weekend is fabulous like you :) xoxoxoxoxo Grace
Thanks for the tutorial. Came here after watching your twiddle muff videos. Just wondering if you can feel the zip tie after the pompom is finished? If you use them in pompom rugs would it feel like stepping on hard bits of plastic?
Excellent question!! If I was making a pompom rug, I would make sure that the square plastic piece is facing down - that way you shouldn't be able to feel the plastic. With the medium-sized and large pompoms, there should be enough cushion so you don't feel the plastic at all. When I squeeze the pompoms, I can't feel the plastic. You might want to try making a couple of pompoms first, then squeeze them and step on them, to see if they are comfortable. Thanks for commenting with your question!! Have a great weekend!
Thank you for showing us something that really works! My pom Poms always come apart, so I try not to use them. Now I have a couple of ways to make them hold! Thank you so much! I enjoyed your name story, too! Thanks for sharing! God bless you!
Thank you so much!! You are so welcome!! I had never thought of zip ties until my husband brought it up. We put our heads together and figured out how to get it to work - he uses zip ties for everything!! Enjoy making your pom poms!! -Grace
Thank you for the solution to the pom poms coming apart. I have been experiencing this problem and decided no more pom poms. Cannot wait to try your suggestion. Thank you.
I just found you and I'm so happy about it because I am just beginning my pom pom endeavor, but I'm most happy because I can tell you have a heart of gold thinking about not just the people who need your help but also their safety. God bless you. ❤ (new subscriber because of your heart)
Grace, You are wonderful. I made my Granddaughters Ruby & Lily Ponchos for Christmas & I put pop=pom's on the ponchos. Then my puppy got ahold of them & the pom-pom's disappeared. I was just going to put tassels, but now I can do the Pom-pom's over with the new & approved way you have shown me & it looks like they will withstand a washing. Thank you so much.
Such a clever idea. I stopped making pom-poms too because they keep falling apart. Can’t wait to try your ideas. Thank you so much. Love your personality. OK good night come out
I was determined to find something that worked, because I wanted to use pom poms - so frustrating when they fall apart!! You are so very welcome, and I hope you enjoy making lots of pom poms!! -Grace
May I say that you have made a GREAT tutorial! This was just fantastic You have a wonderful sense of humor! I am a new subscriber my name is Debbie age 73 and I just came upon your video by chance. How lucky I found you today. I have made pom poms for years, I guess I have just been lucky that none have fallen apart. I'm so excited and I think you are very talented and funny too!! Looking forward to all your upcoming videos. Love 💕😘 from Debbie and Dexter-Dog my sweet tiny rescued Chihuahua companion living a quiet crafty life in southern California.😊😘💕🌻🌹🙃🙏🏠🐝🙏🙏✝️🙋🇺🇸
Hi Debbie!!! Thank you so much for your kind words!! 🥰 I am so glad this video was useful for you. I figure if something goes wrong, just keep on rolling LOL. I'm dangerous with sharp and hot items, just gotta learn to laugh! I bet your sweet Dexter is adorable and lots of company. I have 3 dogs, and they sure keep me happy, especially my Yorkiepoo - he is so darn clingy and follows me everywhere. Have a wonderful week and happy crocheting!! 🥰💕💖➕💐🙏💕
Thank you for this so. Needed video! I needed this like yesterday. Im surprised that you don’t have a couple of million views. This is so needed for us who love to make Pom poms. That’s exactly what I said no more Pom poms
So glad you showed how the pompoms come apart and then to use tie wraps so they won’t. I want to make Dallas Cowboy pompoms for my 9 month old grand daughter so don’t need them to come apart for her to put string in her mouth. I also couldn’t think how she was going to hold them. The tie wrap was a great idea for her to hold on too. 👍 Thank you Love
I just found your channel & I am so happy I did!!! This is the best tutorial I have ever watched!!! I was going to give up on my crafts. God Bless you!!!
Thank you for sharing. I was looking for a safe way to make Pom Pom tails for my grandkids stuffed animals so they wouldn't fall apart. 💜 Kudos to your husband for thinking about the zip ties.
Thank you Grace. After yrs of making pom poms I discovered one day when I snagged it on something the strands just easily slid out! I was so disappointed & I too stopped making them but wah wah I love pom poms!! I'm going to employ your techniques.....thanx again :)
Hi Grace; hope all is well : thank you for sharing your Pom Pom ideas: Your hubby is so smart and nice that he helps you ; I still make Pom poms using a piece of cardboard; The old fashioned way ; Guess I should buy one of those: You made tons 😍, have a great night and thank you , xo Caren 😻💕🤗
Hi Caren!!! I am so glad my husband was sitting there while I was struggling with these pom poms - his idea was brilliant, and has made my life much easier :) I really like the pom pom makers, especially now that I have figured out some ways to keep my pom poms from falling apart!! Hope you are well and having a great week!! Take care my dear!! xoxo Grace
Great tip from hubby and super tutorial. I had exactly the same thing happen when I tried using fake fur. Except it was like pulling endless chicken feathers lolol.
Love your tutorial it was easy to understand and it saved my future pom poms from losing yarn strands Thank you so much! Thank you for this fun tutorial, my pom pom strands will be secured and the story about your name is so endearing!
You made my day! I literally 😂..You make me so happy, I love ur videos and by the way, u will never bored anyone you’re simply awesome..but U know it! Live, laugh, love and keep being the crochet rock star youtuber u are! Xoxo
I made a toy the other day made a Pom Pom for the tail...and as I was attaching it I accidentally pulled some of the yarn and it just pulled out ... that’s not right I thought lol so pulled another bit of yarn and sure enough it to pulled out So this was the first time I had ever noticed that you could just pull the strands of yarn out ... no good for little hands... so went in search to find help and came across you great video thank you so much for sharing 💕💐💕
I know what you mean!! When I first discovered that all my yarn could keep pulling out, I was appalled!! The zip ties sure do make a difference!! Good luck on all of your toy making and have fun! 😊💖
Sorry I forgot to say a great big THANK YOU to your very smart husband!! What a perfect solution he had with those zip ties.!! 💕🙋🐾 From Debbie and Dexter-Dog.
The tie - straps are good for hanging pom poms. But, i think it would be better if you used the yarn to tie them with when you make a pom pom rug or anything you wear. It's useful to know a way to tie them where they don't come apart, though. That's specially helpful when you have to wash a pom pom craft such as rugs. TYSM for sharing your techniques and knowledge with us. Love your channel. Hope you're still making videos for us. 😊😊
Thank you so much for this amazing idea, tell your husband THANKS! This really will make my newest obsession easier!! I will share with everyone! Very. Creatively done❤
LOL. One more note: I actually just started making pom poms and I added ZIP TIES to the ones I already created! I will post some pictures on my channel of the hedgie I made! @@gbmaltese
I enjoyed this so much. I wanted to make a few pompoms to dangle on a crochet bag I made for my Great Grandaughter (aged 2.1/2). First, I had no idea there was such a thing as a pompom maker nor can I imagine how many PP you could need. Nex't: The ziptie trick is very good. The other is this , you appear to be using dressmaking scissors to cut everything. As a dressmaker it was drummed into me not to use them for anything else, not paper, wool, etc. because it takes the edge off for the fine cutting of dressmaking fabric. Saying that I loved watching you create.
Your GrIeat Granddaughter would be thrilled with a purse like that!! PomPom makers are awesome, and you can make all colors and varieties with them. I don't sew or cut material, so I didn't even know these were dressmaking scissors - I learned something new!! I just like big scissors when I'm doing certain projects - thanks for letting me know!! Have a great day!
Lovely to see you! You crack me up. I think that we would get along just fine! Thank you for showing us your pompoms and how you make them! (I totally meant in crochet)!
gbmaltese The pom pom mystery has been solved by no other than Grace! Can you suggest a starter for diamond painting my friend. Where do you live? Where did you find those huge scissors? You could cut off a finger with those babies!
I live in southeast Texas. I think I bought those scissors at Walmart, but I can't swear to it - so far, all digits are still accounted for - LOL!! I would suggest a diamond painting using round diamonds ( called drills) with a simple pattern. I started with a partial painting for my first one - the tree I showed - that means the whole canvas isn't covered in drills (diamonds). Here is a link to the tree I did - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HEPJ5WW/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The blue bird I did was easy also and here it is - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078PN7WZ3/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Those are both from Amazon. I also order from AliExpress, but it takes much longer to get those paintings, as they come from China. I do like to order from there too. Hope this helps :) -Grace
Thanks Grace ! My grandaughter's middle name is Grace Beautiful Story ! thank's for the help on pom pom making Mine were falling apart till i saw this thank You !
@@gbmaltese I will try the zip tie. The thread did not work. Could be that Caron Simply Soft has too much slip to it. Thank you for your video to solve this perplexing problem.
I really like the way you tell your pomponmaker , and all those little "blooepers" made it just wonderfull and spontanious, You brought a smile on my face , so kindly greetings from Belgium, keep going on and have another great tutorials !
Thank you Rose!! The tie straps sure do make it easier!! I hope you are doing well, and thank you so much for watching and commenting!! God Bless! xoxo Grace
When I was rewatching this as I was uploading, I saw that glob of glue, and was thinking to myself, don't put your finger there!! Too bad I couldn't see it while filming!!
Amazing! Love your tutorials, too! Hot glue gun tip, cuz I'm always burning my fingers, too...lol...keep a small bowl with ice & water next to you so you can dip your "hot" fingers in, right away, to stop the burning!!!
I sure will tell him - he will get the big head now - lol!! I really love this method - so easy!! How sweet of you to make the red hats for such a great cause 💖
OMGoodness, I have never thought about the pom after I've made it and attached it to a hat. I never thought to pull it to see if it was secure or not. I feel so silly right now. I hope the hats I've given away have not been a total flop :( so thank you so much for this video.
Don't feel silly - it's not something we shouldn't have to worry about, but I have always had trouble with them falling apart. I'm sure your hats have been just fine!! You are so welcome to the video, and thank you for watching!! -Grace
I bought them from either Amazon or Walmart. Here's a link on Amazon to a similar pair: www.amazon.com/Fiskars-No-8-Premier-Action-Scissors/dp/B00006IFNC/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3P0UIH83BGH7H&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.GxK-XANfavv3mYveFvhzAeoJfQeuBiPuEbJ7qjMm_cW07464HMObjbBaUWeuYEZX8nZTGwLmlRVvOMeU3iYvyeH9t1iIi_hvKIhI1B8Lr6_f-Ajx-ps_ECOeRu3t2SrxX9IV9WHx-bqv5IYKSg_gWOZSJSkNam_zAx_qgaNPq7jqNUfDOlkfLx47Q-UexKlcTPt8DGsQXgO2k2FegTTDSqoywJ05gxlaidd-97Nw_blFI61x0AwX-LPBd4cShng5bhL-pzSnrgAI5cTcfhnKfWIhB4ySKZZVL5w6SNBVvCc.GsU2-epzhqCCgxfLPUKAxtwuLWtEeMkKtJlMzuQbwI0&dib_tag=se&keywords=Fiskars%C2%AE+Easy+Action%E2%84%A2+Shears%2C+8%22&qid=1724471417&sprefix=fiskars+easy+action+shears%2C+8+%2Caps%2C198&sr=8-5
Thank you so much Sandra!!! I'm really not sure how long it is, but I think it's at least 9 - 12 inches. You are going to cut the ends off, so even if it is a bit longer, it won't matter.
I know this video was done six years ago. I’m just starting making pom-poms. Is there anyway that you can have a string with the loop on it that I can hang on? Can you show that please?
I would never have thought about zip ties either, until my husband saw me struggling to find a way to make them without them falling apart!! He uses zip ties for everything, so we sat together and found a way to make it work! I love it!
