Grace you wont see this but if you do, use your new cutting board. It's a very nice gift AND don't worry about messing it up, it's an end grain cutting board so it's much less prone to getting those knife marks on it like your other wood cutting boards. If you do start to see some marks down the road (like in a couple of years or so) just get some mineral oil, apply a thin layer all over the board, let it rest for a few minutes then wipe off as much of the oil as you can. It'll last you a lifetime. Happy new year!
