I just finished "Growing Together", a permanent installation in Liberty Lake, WA. This is an overview of how I get public art contracts, and what went into making this one.

This is a great video on getting started with public art. As an artist, I want to do public art, but everything seems to require huge up front costs and experience. Love to hear more about your experience with budgeting and planning.

Thanks for making this video. Having done a few public works, I found that it’s very hard to keep the projects coming in enough to make a living at it. I think your right, better to keep as side projects.

The first part of the small flower assembly makes it look like you're building a rocket. Do you bolt them down with normal nuts or do you do anything as regards tamper-resistant or permanent nuts?

In this case the city just wanted normal nuts with red loctite. I've used the security nuts before where the hex head shears off, leaving just a low cone behind, which are pretty nice.
