Very nice clip again , Paul, ...I've really enjoyed watching ! I do my own reed floats a bit different in construction to yours(especially without any jigs ) , though ,.........and through the years I've recognized them to be superior to any shop-bought , fancy colored bobbers ,....especially when fishing those shallow fishing club ponds around here . In first place the reed float's compact antennas are better visible compared to most lighter commercial floats , also their casting performance is often better,....but main advantage is , that , ....being left in their natural color , just clear-coated , ....they do not tend to spook the fish as much . Many a times it happened to me when doing early season carp ,-and tench fishing during late March into April , .....fish would drop the bait after a short nibble , since they must have sensed that colorful and bulbous thing above their heads being moved,.....I'm talking about only 1 1/2 to 2 feet of water depth ! Since I had started to use my homemade reed floats , this problem did not occur anymore , because reeds , ....even slightly moving stems ....., are just nothing strange or unfamiliar to the fish , thus will not spook them ! Greetings , Dieter

61diemai I have to admit Dieter that my float tips are getting larger as I get older if i make to sixty i will be putting fluro golf balls on top of my floats. I think what really started me on these was seeing how many bits of broken plastic floats where stuck on the margins of the lakes i fish and i just thought reeds have to be a better alternative and performance wise its a float so it is not hard to get right. But i like the process with these as much as the end result all-ready i have a few more ideas as to what I can use that dipping machine for. Thanks again

John Pendleton Yep there is so much to learn about filming and so many new things to try, but I am glad with this that I put the fishing first and I got to tell a bit more of the story rather than just the making. Hopefully the story side should be something I develop a bit more in future videos, thanks again for the feedback

a bit different how i would have done things but that's exactly why i like your videos paul. A fresh new perspective on how to do things is invigorating and honestly very inspiring.
@PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman
@PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman 9 лет назад
SolarBaits Thanks Mikko, I think a lot of it comes from not having the money to throw at these projects so i end up trying to find solutions that don't break the bank and use things i already own or are very cheap, in a way the limitations force solutions that probably wouldn't normally arise. But i will be glad to get back making some lures for a while, i looked in my lure box this morning and it is beginning to look like bits or wire attached to bits of chewed wood, with some bent hooks.

Amicalement Geo

just got back from a little winkle picker session, caught a couple nice ones and lost the last fish i had. For as far as i could see it was an immaculate tench of about 4 to 5 lbs. So yes, sad like a kid who's ice cream just fell on the floor. Seeing this last clip cheers me up in a way. Besides all the material stuff and your skills the way of filming, including choice of music, is very well done. I'm going back for roach in an hour

What's the real name of the hand crank lathe?
@PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman
@PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman 9 лет назад
Jun Hao NG It is something i made from a stanley drill so get to call it the hand cranked lathe, I am sure someone else somewhere has had the same idea and maybe they have a different name for it. This was the original video where i made it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DEDpfTh714U.html
