Making Rice Cakes for my Boyfriend’s Family 🇰🇷 Chuseok in Korea

It’s Chuseok in Korea right now so I make half moon rice cakes (Songpyeon) for my boyfriends family! Happy Chuseok to everyone watching! Chuseok is a big family celebration in Korea and songpyeon filled with toasted sesame and sugar are using eaten then. Songpyeon come in a variety of different colours with different fillings depending on who makes them. I’ve linked the recipe below that I loosely followed.

Damn, it's tough watching these more recent videos because it basically feels like a countdown video. It just sucks, I can't even imagine how terrified Hyun is to go back to Korea without Sara and step into their apartment for the first time. I hope he won't be alone during that process.

Ikr. I've been stuck binging her older videos, and it's heartbreaking, like faith sneering at them, you can tell Hyun loved her so much, and she too, and I can't imagine it's any easier on her family, we know no one is promised tomorrow but it doesn't get any easier.

Happy Chuseok Sara up there and Hyun! I ate pears, bulgogi today and lastly I had bubble tea! I couldn't make the rice cake today because I was out of stock! I love how Sara was excited to make the rice cake and she did well and had fun substituting the flavor/ color! I would do the same too! We miss you Sara and we will aways remember you in our hearts. Hyun thank you for reminding us how beautiful and kind Sara!

You know if you’re getting compliments from nana you’ve really made it. I once got complemented by my nana after attempting her Shepard’s pie recipe and I think I’ll be chasing that high for the rest of my life. Also I didn’t know the name of these before this video so thank you for that haha

Grandma most likely grew up during the Korean War, there wasn't much to eat. Everything was destroyed, people died of starvation, thus no food or nutrients for the people to grow. Height is not genetics, its all about nutrition and food.

I live in Texas. But I have Korean friends, who live about an hour away. I lost my Mother this year. I'm disabled. So, I'm been dealing with a lot. But my friends Grandmother made them come and get me. Plus my dog. So, that I could have Chuseok with them. Due to Covid, I haven't gotten to see them. They didn't get to come to my Mother's funeral. So, this meant a lot. She made so much food for me to take home. My icebox is full. ha. Your Songpyeon looked so good.

사라님이 송편을 만드는걸 보고있으면서도 믿을수가 없네여.. 사실 송편 만들어본 사람들은 모두 아는 사실이지만 만들기 진짜 어렵거든여.. 근데 처음 만드는사람이 어찌 그리 이쁘게 잘 만들수 있는지?? 사라님은 분명 이쁜 딸을 낳으실겁니다..^^
