So I am finally entering the realm of Edwardian corsetry. I am questing to make Rose's corset and undergarments in order to achieve the proper shape when I reconstruct some of her more formal dresses. I thought everyone and their mother on costube has created a victwardian corset but surprisingly I haven't see many Titanic era or late Edwardian corsets being made so hopefully this video is helpful.

I received the TV corset pattern for Christmas. It was nice to see this come together and is giving me motivation to sew.

I think we're all doomed to eventually sewing the things we swore we'd never make😂 this turned out so beautiful! I especially love the bit of lace on the corset, and the way it shapes the body is so lovely. I'm all for more Titanic inspired projects!

You're work is Beautiful! I love what you did with the lace placements and "All Hand Stitched!". Brilliant work... You have inspired me to have a go at draping underwear. Love your finished work and construction information. 🙏🤗💃💖 Thank you. X

Small thing... you made a lovely set of under things. However a combination would have been connected at the waist band hence "combination" as it would combine both a Corset Cover and a pair of drawers. If one made the garments separately they would have been used with a chemise that would have gone first, then depending on the wearing either the drawers or the corset came next and the corset cover would have gone on top to hide the line of the corset. Also, the lacing cords would have been gathered up in the back and tucked under the back of the corset instead of wrapping around one's waist as that adds bulk to the waist line.

Absolutely flawless work!!! The Swim Dress was exquisite also! I had a Pit Bull named Roscoe for 14 years. He was and always will be the owner of my heart.❤️

Can you possibly share which pattern you used? I have to help make costumes for a play from this era on a limited budget and really need help because I don't have any good patterns to start with. Thank you so much for this video .

Everything came out so lovely. Well done. Thank you for this - I've done some preliminary poking around for the period and information's a little thin on the ground, maybe because of all of the mood swings the ten's went through. My Singer 99 hand-crank is out of 1915, and I decided I wanted to sew the time-frame that the 99 was in operation. I also recently found out that my paternal Granddad served in the British Navy during 'the war to end all wars', so I'm surrounded by all sorts of rabbit holes to follow. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi

Thank you Cathy! Yes the 1910s were were very transformative which makes them such a gem to learn about! Woah that’s really cool, family history is definitely interesting

@@CarolineElizabethMartin It's always interesting to see what get's left out of the story. In the ten's we see everything that's going to be played with for the rest of the century. They're taking sewing techniques and just, somehow, stacking them on top of each other. Remarcable

I just found your channel, loved the video, it's beautiful 🩷 question for you all - why is there a closure on the back and the front? With all the little metal hooks with the busk, wouldn't that just wear on other fabrics?

Are you able to sit with that 15inch busk you used? I have the same issue, where I'm about to choose a busk size and I'm not sure. Using the pattern marks I get a 12-13 inch busk.

Does the info say what Dutch magazine and is this magazine online?
@CarolineElizabethMartin
@CarolineElizabethMartin 2 года назад
The dutch magazine is called De Gracieuce. Apparently this magazine is the Dutch equivalent to Harpers Bazzar. I am not sure if it is offered online in a digitized version.

De Gracieuse magazine is the Dutch version of "La Mode illustrée". You can find it online for free.

- oh you think poly satin is offensive? I think that finding bias tape at a garage sale, thinking it's cotton, then ironing it, and it smelling like burnt plastic is offensive =D - anyway I did enjoy the video! though I must admit I was waiting for some vintage related content from your channel, but I'm not mad about it, all the historical research information is great, I like it! thanks ^^
