It looks so amazing! Suits really do suit all. And so glad my rambling on collar fit made some sense!

Hi Morgan! Seeing how important those multiple mock-ups were for the fitting process I was wondering... could you perhaps make a tutorial on how you extract information from your mock-ups and use it to alter the pattern? I think it would be really interesting to see how you approach this process. Amazing video as usual!

I'm always amazed at how fast she sews. The first mock up would have taken me a week at least.

I can't count the number of straw hats that I have spray painted. I'll freely admit that they could probably be better with a fabric treated brush acrylic. This jacket is so very beautiful on you. It suits you (yep. I love a pun).

The jacket looks so good. I love the tip of putting a reference into procreate for recreations. When you said that it felt like one of those things that should be obvious, but you don't realize until someone points it out.

The jacket looks super sharp! The red is totally on brand for you and part of why it looks so good is because you clearly feel amazing in it. I'm excited to see your curtain dress. I love how you give yourself the liberty to tweak ideas just a bit to make them suit you. Exact recreations are great, but being able to riff on an idea either in subtle or bold ways is delightful. It feels very playful and lighthearted, which I'm totally here for. It's something I'm always trying to work on myself, accepting personal variation as a thing of beauty rather than a fault. It's much easier to do for other people than for myself!

It amazes me that you can take something you just saw, and didn’t even touch to see how it was made, and end up with something so complicated and lovely! Speaking of curtains, my favorite skit in the Carole Burnett show was the Gone with the Wind dress episode where Scarlett makes a fancy gown from her curtains - “I saw it in the window and I just had to have it!” Always cracks me up.

I absolutely love you did red/burgundy with polka dots--very much a Morgan Donner flair and it suits you perfectly. I needed some sewing inspiration today, so, thanks for coming in clutch!

Tailoring is SUCH a skill and being able to make a well fitting garment is very impressive! Carmen Sandiego vibes all the way!!!

I like yours better! Also, I love the idea of the jacket with a solid skirt. If the color of the hat bothers you, it could always be covered with any leftover velvet curtain scraps (if you have time). Can't wait to see what else you come up with!

Looks amazing! And if you make a dress instead of a skirt, it basically gives you two different outfits, much like what Nicole is doing with the whole capsule wardrobe thing. The hat compliments the jacket as it is. Having everything match precisely can look overplanned. A slightly different shade on a large accessory takes the whole outfit to the next level. You have a definite personal style anyway, so it suits you better.

The painted dots look amazing and really add a lot compared to just solid lines

I just want to say how dare you inspire me to make more clothes when I thought my capsule wardrobe was done? Who gives you the right to make things that are so pretty that now I have to have it in my life? But, damn, the red was such an absolutely fabulous choice. I tend to be guilty of skipping that step, but you showed exactly why it’s such an important part of the project. I also love how you used your tablet to compare your mock-up with the original piece. So clever! And I’ve had the same issues with collars before, so Nicole’s tips were a revelation for me too. I’m absolutely obsessed with the finished jacket!

I think Morgan and I both see life as a game. But she sees it as a game where every move is an opportunity for exploration that could be fun. Whereas I see it as a game where every move is an exploration that could lead the wrong place. I'm going to try and be more like Morgan.

My mum taught me a trick with fusible interfacing (she did a bunch of applique, but I use it on garments) - if you cut the interfacing to the very edge, then lay it on your un-cut fashion fabric, iron it on, and THEN cut your fashion fabric! no muddy edges, no glue on anything, and it can help reduce fraying in the construction process :)

Great, great job! For the hat, I'd probably try to darken it with acrylic paint… the good thing about those is that you can dilute them as much as you want, so you can control the result 100% Gorgeous. (and yes, I'm totally surprised you went with red, lol)

I don't sew but I really admire your skills and have enormous respect for all of your knowledge. I find myself watching your videos all morning long on the weekends, then I work on my hobby which is making rugs by hooking wool through a mesh linen backing.

I think the idea of the red dress for under is a really good plan, but you can always make the replica skirt for later and have even more options! It’s amazing and bloody well done. I’m always so amazed by your talents and those of others on RU-vid

Skirts are soooo much easier to make - so I was really surprised you opted to go with a different direction for the lower half of this outfit. It's great to see someone going "hey, I could start with a modern-day commercial pattern and modify it for this!" because I feel like some of us have like, weird guilt around that? Like "I MUST DRAFT OR USE HISTORICAL PATTERNS ONLY" but honestly having the eye for how a pattern could be modified is such a skill of its own!

You look extremely cute in coats, and especially with such a happy smile. I hope we will all move into coat season soon in our hemisphere. Jackets and coats are my favorite part of fashion.

I have almost the opposite taste in clothes and projects to you (with a few small exceptions), but I do a lot of crafting and a bit of sewing and I absolutely love seeing your thought process and how you go about figuring out solutions and how to do things! Even though the projects we make are wildly different I feel like I'm learning a lot from you, and I always love seeing how different people go about figuring out how to solve the problems and things that inevitably comes up in any sort of sewing/crafting/DIY projects. I feel like you put such a good level of detail into your videos as well, and can tell how much thought and care you put into them, so thank you so much!
