The reason why sand is used is because the aggregate(sawdust) isn't a good binding material for the cement. This also goes for anything that is going to be load bearing when mixed with concrete. Sawdust by itself acts like a sponge rather than a surface for the cement to bind too. Now if the building was partially framed in wood, the mixture that doesn't use any sand would be better as it's not meant to sustain any weight, the timber framing is the weight carrier, the dustcrete mixture without sand would just be an insulation pack around the timbers to add a little more rigidity to the wall and increase the insulation value of the wall itself. Because they are making bricks instead of actually framing the building, the bricks will have to be load bearing, so it's mandatory that you use sand in the mixture for the cement to bind to adding strength and rigidity to each brick.

​@yusufusayd3151 it doesn't matter what size bucket as long as it is the same size bucket u use for all ingredients. You could use a "cup" for the bucket to make a sample of the finish product

interested person who understands this issue. lime is a white powder that removes sugars from sawdust and protects sawdust from rodents mice rats . and I agree it's better to mix fine sawdust with shavings.

@@robin-myhouse3472 I did not know that there were sugars in wood needed to be neutralize. My question was on the type of lime you use. In usa they only know the hydrated lime used to control the soils PH. They dont know the Aerial or the NHL lime. Impossible to find except from import from France at 10 x the price.
