Rishi corrected me, and rightly so, i made a comment about the pathing saying it was Workspace Name\Artifact Type\Artifact Name. It is rather the reverse. Artifact Name\Artifact Type\Workspace Name. Thanks Rishi!
Great video! Thanks! Can you make an updated one of the Faric capacity app? I can't really understand the start/end time of the background operation in the timepoint drillthrough.
It's really evolving into a very useful tool. We see a P1 get briefly overloaded by the M365 adoption and Teams CQD apps when people grab data for their end of month reports, but we can't fix their models :)
Thanks for this Adam, really helpful information. It would be great to have more detail on the types of user interaction with reports that can cause high CPU, and how report design / data model can be optimised to reduce CPU usage from report interaction on Gen 2.
We have some other videos that look at performance optimization in general. Specifically one about focusing on CPU. Tools like Performance Analyzer and DAX Studio will help you to pinpoint bottlenecks and work towards optimization.
Okay, so you can scroll down there... I got stuck at TimePoint and didn't notice the scrollbar. My bad I guess, but still, MS could have given us a bit more clue there. Thanks for this!
Not in the Gen2 Metrics App. The Log Analytics integration (AS Trace) can be helpful to dig in further to the actual queries once you have narrowed down the time stamp.
thanks for the video! very nice one! mind if i ask what's the software/app you are using to somehow "zoom in" on powerbi, it looks like in the video a portion of where you click is zoomed in/enlarged to view it better, which is super cool, so wondering how to do it when recording the screen, thanks !!!!!!!!
Thanks for the awesome videos. I have Power BI and am trying to embed this in React application. Looks like Analyze dropdown is missing in embed mode. How can we enable this? Thanks.
Thanks for this Adam, really helpful information. Any idea on how to save the data from the app to another location (file, Dataset, ....) for historical storage, that show the organization metrics over a longer range of time?
Hi guys you make understand easy.. With every topic I watch to refer and can you guys show me how to connect to service now tool to get data.. From long time i been waiting for it.
Hi Adam, in your previous video about Gen 2 capacity usage reports, you mentioned capability to have chargeback models-i.e,, ability to bill back utilization to different groups but that was not captured here? Can you show how this can be done
Hey Adam. Thanks so much. Another great video. You are my star. I do have a question: if I see duration triple the length than CPU time (or 10times longer then CPU)... would there mostt likely be an issue with the dataset?
Excellent video Adam. If you don't mind, would you expand a little on the "Artifacts - Query" in Overview page? It seems to me only the datasets are being tracked, and in my case, all datasets either sourced directly from database tables, or custom SQL statement through Import (No DirectQuery). So I would imagine there is no "Run-Time" Query processing, but somehow "Query" still shows up in the Artifacts. Thanks
Thanks for sharing! The app provide great contents for analysts, I’m looking for a metrics that would says to my boss if the capacity is healthy or unhealthy. How would you do that? This metric was available in the gen1 version. Thanks!
The overloaded chart that I called out in the beginning of the video is the closest thing you have to the overall health. Everything else can help with trending. There isn't a direct equivalent to the health gauges from the Gen1 app yet.
Thank you for this video! Very helpful as always. I have a few capacity related questions that have come up this week. Is there any delay in the timing in the report? Yesterday I got the capacity at 100% email at 3pm. When I look at the graphs it shows overload occurred at 2:34pm for about a minute. Which is more accurate? Also, is there any risk to changing the capacity name? We upgraded to a P2 from a P1 and the capacity still has P1 in the name so I would like to change it. I assume this should not have an impact on the capacity.
Hey Adam! Thanks for the video, we were waiting for it for so long! Also, when refreshing the app's(Metrics Gen2) dataset, we get a processing error, not sure if you are aware of it but your guidance will be much appreciated! Processing error: We couldn't convert to Number. Wish you and Microsoft family Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Adam, great stuff as always. Could you potentially do one on the Gateway Performance template? I've tried it and get errors when it's reading the log files. When it comes to refresh performance, this would be another potential bottleneck for those of us using a gateway.
Hi Adam, is possible to do I have 2 slicers. One is called Start Date time and one is called End Date time where you can select a date range. Is there a way to set the End Date slicer to list dates starting where the Start Date slicer ended? For example, if I selected Sep 20th as my start date, could I get the End Date dropdown slicer to start on Sep 21st? I can do this in Excel and Access, but can't find a way in Power Bl. Can please help me that Adam
Q: i would like to make a same report for ppu capacity...but in this app it gives me option only for corporate capacity. Kindly support... anticipating your response
I've gotten multiple automated emails saying "Your ____ capacity is at 70 percent. If it reaches 100 percent, your reports may take longer to load or be less responsive." But when I follow your video instructions I see that the chart showing "Overloaded minutes per hour" is completely blank meaning I've never overloaded. what is this email referring to?
David is right. Overload means something over 100%. The email was saying you were only at 70%. So, no overloads yet. You can use the upper right chart to see what was causing you to hit 70% and look at which artifacts were contributing to that to see if there is potential for optimization.
It’s it too slow to use. Microsoft should be embarrassed by this piece of garbage. Please tell your friends on the team to FIX THE PERFORMANCE!!!!! Import model might help.
