How to make slingshot bands fr Hunting and/or target shooting. Discussion of different types of slingshot bands, what thickness and tapers to use etc. Band jig link www.dankung.co...
I made a badass section of table for bandset build and tying that is removable from my workbench that folds up and tucks into my "weapons satchel" if need be. I was having such a good time making custom bandsets and badass double layered multi-type leather pouches for my current ammo situation which is 5mm bearings, 10mm bearings, .50cal ½" big steel balls, marbles, and real neat plastic beads id say about 9mm with a hole thru the center for kids to make necklaces from the craft shop, whats cool is due to that hole thru the center they make a intimidatingly horrific whistle type sound while in flight. They sound like the sound XF that would be used for a bow n arrow released by a marvel character.. wicked as hell sounding I thing and they fly true and fast with relatively light bands. Anyway I made 2 versions of each bandset one short anchor point draw, and one half butterfly long pull... About to go outside in a bit to raise war against some unsuspecting cans, bottles and whatever else gives me funny looks or any type backtalk lol
First and foremost, Chris, congratulations on the new addition! Thanks for the video, lots of good information in here. I have a house rented for next summer in Ireland for a month on the west coast. Would be great to take you out for a pint if you have a little time and learn a bit more from you.
I’m loving your videos! Your do passionate about your sport so much knowledge it’s really inspired me to have a go! I love how technical it is. Fantastic
Brilliant Video Chris lot to catapult hunting when l was a kid hardest thing was looking for wood to use. Going to get back into it. Your a amazing shot mate
Bags ontop of the washing machine same in my house congrats on the baby .... u got me into sling shots it's not easy to get use to I'm taken all the advice on board but hitting low an the target u use a resin sling shot an shoot 8m balls with 18 to 12 an .80 big draw but alot of practice
Slip a constrictor knot of cord over the pouch before you secure the pouch in the jig, then tighten it on the band. No need to make knots awkwardly, going around and around.😊
It's like you're telepathic or something - I've just taken delivery of my first jig and band material (GZK green 0.62 of course) and was going to start cutting this afternoon. Top notch vid as always, Chris. Keep up the great work, sir! 👏
@@CatapultCarnage Went for 25/20mm taper with 180mm active length, using 9.5mm steel. I'm 6ft 3ins tall and have arms like an orangutan, so I've still got plenty of power! Really chuffed with the result. Thanks again for the vid and big congrats on the arrival of your little lady! 👏👍😁
Chris, I'm in the u.s and I'm shooting a scout xt and a scout lt. 32 inch draw. As you have stated in previous video, I would like to shoot the same .66 gzk latex and modify band ratio based on projectile size 3/8, 7/16, or 1/2. Any basic information or where to look? Great videos and lots of good, well thought out shared information. Keep it up!!!!
Hi Chris, Have you ever tried Simple shot black? It's great latex, I use GZK .7 and Thera band gold, and simple shot black .7. I think from my own experience that Thera band gold and Simple shot black have far better elasticity than GZK. What are your thoughts on this?
Hi I am an Italian boy passionate about slingshot, you are a, big, I use the Hammer TTF GZK with the 0.66 GZK Green elastic band I have a 800mm arm opening, you can give me an advice on the measures of the bands to use for hunting and shooting to the target, thanks greetings.
Can you get fiskers rotary cutters with titanium blades over there where you are? If so buy one the blades are lazer sharp and stay sharp for one hell of a long time!
I shoot 1/2 inch stainless steel slingshot ammo that weighs 8.51 grams. And I make my bands 32 mm tapered down to 19 mm and my bands are 1mm thick. And I find that's a really good combination for hunting bands.
I use a cheep Freehawk tubular catapult off Amazon and it shoots great but i dont know exactly how fast my projectiles are going (.451&9mm) have thought about converting it to flatbands. 👍 thank you.
At this Time I’m shooting a daisy tube slingshot. I want to order a band style sling shot how would one know if it’s ttf bands vs otf band ? Thanks in advance also I live in the states.
Hi pal. Great video. New to this so just a quickie. Getting green .66 GZK based on ya viid. I’ve got 65cm draw and going to be using 9.5 mm steel for hunting rabbits and pigeon inside 30ft. Got any idea of the taper please ? Thinking 20/15? Cheers
Ordered GZK black in the heavy grade its going to be interesting to see how it performs i cot at around 9 in length and with a 3cm width tapering to 2.5 cm and i get a fairly fast band set
Hi, Am just getting into this, I have got some pre made bands from aliexpress. I have since found out that they are ttf tied bands and my catapult is ott, will this make a great difference to my shooting? Also my shoots seem to go to the right a bit, any advice or should I just keep aiming to the left? I hold with my left hand. Love the videos, learning a lot and just enjoy watching them. Congrats on the baby.
Hiya mate you've asked some good questions with no short answer. Your shots going left could be a number of things. Try adjusting your head tilt and or anchor point. Have a look at my aiming video
Also ttf bands aren't as easy to aim down ott but doesn't really make a difference to the actual shot. Also I'd recommend buying bands off HTH in the uk or Simple shot if you're in the states. Or try making your own
@@CatapultCarnage thanks for the advice, I'll try those tips, see if I can get some results with them. I'm going to try making my own band at some point, I'll definitely hit up HTH for the band rolls though. Cheers for taking the time to reply buddy..
Google gzk China it should come right up . I just got a SS4 GZK. Took 6 days to get to USA. Next one will be a hammer style. Got tons of free stuff too. Enjoy!
