An artist in California, using discarded and working in his spare time, has been making tiny homes for homeless people. As VOA’s Mike O’Sullivan tells Imran Siddiqui, the artist has made over 20 such structures for people who might otherwise be on the streets of Oakland.

It is a great ideal get tents off the streets and people in the morning proper shelters I don't know why the government would have a problem with it I think it's pretty cool

This man has a good heart but ... stand alone shelters without supportive plumbing / sewage treatment is just asking for trouble. This is how typhoid and cholera spread .. so, in the long run ... our government MUST step up and give us all a better solution. In the meantime this guy serves a very important purpose... Consciousness Raising... it's a start.

Well i think it's the ssme if they still lived in the streets so this man is doing the job that the government and mayors should do ...if they hade a peace of land of there own they could create even small villages of tiny houses with toilets/ shower and kitchens for there use

This was aired back in Dec 2014. and now in 2019 the city has removed all these little homes and says He can't build anymore. way to go Calif lawyer for doing this!

Seriously? Can you tell me where to look that up?... What is this country coming to? Why couldn't they find an abandoned lot somewhere for them to put them on? Aren't there any "true" Christians there with a plot or two of unused land they could donate or rent out? Jesus said, ".. if you have done it unto the least of these, my brethren, you have done it unto me".....

I help those people but they do not let themselves be helped. I was homeless on a bench. Now I live as a movable homeless in a motorhome. I had 3 homeless tenants and I gave them the opportunity to buy their motorhome and none of them after a year of helping them made the effort to buy even a small car. Gives courage and I'm very disappointed

You can't help them all, but some will be helped. It's a longer process for others... I too help how I can with a "hand up" in small things, because I've had to move so much in my life and had to live a mobile life through no fault of my own, and Jesus says we should help one another... One day they may remember that you tried to help them, and they may finally make an effort...

Well you know how they give money to all these religious places and different places those grants to help the homeless if anybody deserves a grant it's that guy oh and all those companies that do help the homeless need to come together and learn to work together somehow so you can reach more people
