This video demonstrates how to create split level houses. What's important is that the principle of creating split level houses is identical for Mac, Windows and iOS versions of Live Home 3D.
You will learn how to:
- control the storey height;
- create split level house with a small difference in storey level;
- create split level house with a bigger difference in storey level;
- create split level house with two adjacent rooms and a roof above them;
- get the understanding of roof editing possibilities for split level rooms.

this is ridiculously complicated for something that is such a common design in houses. any plans to update it so you don’t have to trick the system just to get a balcony inside?

This is the way program works, we always think how to optimize and make it more convenient for users, but home and interior design is not trivial process in the first place.

totally agree!! you create this complex and wonderful program, and cannot figure how to change the walls height higher or lower makes no sense. Are you planning to fix this issue at all?

I wish you would re-make this video and slow down enough to show all the steps. At critical moments, I find gaps. For example, at 2:31, you add a second story but the vid shows the second story only on one room, not both. As far as I can tell, this is impossible. The app adds a second story to both rooms at once. Did you add the second story and then delete the walls for the lower room? There are other examples. I've watched this thing a dozen times and still can't get all the steps. Another: at 4:10, you add a roof to "current story" but I think you really mean Ground Floor, even though the video, if you look close, shows adding it to the First Floor; but on my app, it shows the first floor already having a roof and the only option is to remove the roof. Confusing to say the least, and maybe wrong.

Hello. Thanks for your feedback! When the second story is added, the walls are added for the entire story, and then you can remove the unnecessary walls. This step was omitted in the video (and it shouldn't have been). Thanks for noticing and pointing this out! We will review updating this video in the future.

How does this work when you just need different first floor wall heights? I’m looking to have the garage walls higher than the rest of the house but when I adjust one it changes them both
@LiveHome3D
@LiveHome3D Год назад
Hello. Story Walls on each story have the same height equal to the story height. To change it, use the Building Properties tab in the Inspector. The height of a Loft Wall is limited by the roof located on the same story above the wall. If there is no roof, the height of a Loft Wall is equal to the story height. Please add an upper story and set the walls type to "Loft Wall". Then draw a roof on the same story, covering the garage walls. Set up an Elevation for this roof in Inspector and the walls will follow. You can then draw a ceiling opening in your garage to make it look like a single-story building.

If you use this workaround where you increase the foundation and then drop the elevation on the floor and ceiling, Is there still a way to have a basement on the other section of the house that doesn't have the dropped elevation? Also, on the section of the house that does get the elevation dropped, is there a way to decrease the wall height on any of the walls without decreasing the wall height on all of the walls on that level.
@LiveHome3D
@LiveHome3D 2 года назад
Hi! You drop Elevation for a separate Floor object, so it can be configured differently in other rooms. To decrease the ceiling height in the room with a lowered floor without changing the Story Height, you can use a rectangular building block, elevated to the ceiling.

How do we get mouldings on lowered areas?
@LiveHome3D
@LiveHome3D Год назад
Hi! You can draw mouldings on lowered areas in Elevation View with the Wall Panel tool. You can find more information about the Wall Panel tool here: for Mac version - www.livehome3d.com/support/help/mac/en/working-with-objects-niches-and-wall-panels for Windows version - www.livehome3d.com/support/lh3d-win-help/en/working-with-objects-niches-and-wall-panels for iOS version - www.livehome3d.com/support/lh3d-ios-help/working-with-objects-niches-and-wall-panels

Ok I’m running pro, however it is entirely impossible to use the lifting and lowering technique to have an adjacent building have a different wall height. In my case I have no way of making my old barn appear realistic. Also there is a Great issue with the fact that the ceiling slab on Loft walls is not removed but made transparent so you see a gap between the gable and the loft wall or the loft walls don’t extend to the roof top. I am a bit sorry for my money right now. Bought pro for both Mac and iPad (why do you have to pay twice btw?) and it simply does not create proper views

Hi Andy, Please send us your project by email at support@belightsoft.com. We will review it and try to advise something. Please also send the above questions in this email message and the Support Engineer will answer them. As to the price, Mac App Store and iOS App Store are separate stores, and purchases can't be shared between the stores. This is why you need to purchase each version separately.
@WRM-istomoveon

BeLight Software thank you for your answer. I will send it. On the pricing: this is not true. I work for Apple thus know that Mac License ownership is AppleID dependent. It is up to BeLight to define their 2 licenses as equal when one is purchased in one AppleID. Others do it. So it comes down to business decision not to sales platform.

@@WRM-istomoveon Hi Andy! Our Mac and iOS apps are separate products, with lots of independent work going into each one to make them use the platform abilities to full extent. As to the technical side, according to the information we have, Apple doesn’t provide such technical ability to developers. We get anonymous receipts from Apple Mac App Store and iOS Store, and don’t get the user’s Apple ID. Live Home 3D on the Mac App Store and iOS App Store are different apps with different Apple ID. However, you mentioned you know examples of apps that work as you describe. Please send them to info@belightsoft.com and we’ll research this.

Hi, if you can open the file with your project, and it is empty, please try the "File -> Revert To" menu to restore the previous document version. This works only in the macOS version of the app. Here is the screenshot illustrating this menu: www.dropbox.com/s/e9fq4xfg941ldqu/restore-previous-version.png?dl=0 If this doesn't help, please contact our Technical Support by email at support@belightsoft.com.

What a ridiculous work around. This is a fundamental flaw in software design. There is also no intrinsic support for terrain.
