There is always going to be jealousy. Maybe he should have gone to private school where the jealousy could be more addressed! If he were my son , I would have found the right school inviorment for him. How do other child actors handle this?
I feel so bad for Jake Loyd. He got harassed and bullied for years because of his work on phantom meance. He was just a kid he didn't desvered any of the hate.
Azryex hello I believe so many people were so jealous of people who were in StarWars! I believe it was a loud noisy minority who wanted to express negativity on a grand StarWars platform! Jealousy and envy are powerful emotions. They can creep into things disguised as undeserved criticism and
Jake our cute sweet natural young Skywalker, was unjustly bullied and criticized. He was a wonderful Anakin! I can not imagine anyone else! We needed to stand up for him at the time to counteract the loud negativity. Like how young people are being taught to not just be a bystander when they see bullying! At the time i didn’t realize to the extent this was happening to Jake! For if I could go back in time , I would want to be involved in spreading the positive!! Also poor Jar Jar no excuse for what happened to him! Haters real immature bullies love to tear down people. And make them feel horrible and unloved because they are jealous of the love and good fortune they do not have! Human beings can be horrible to one another like psychic vampires! Send Jake good wishes , positivity so he can have something to fight with!
@@isaacriley3126 He also has schizophrenia and during his arrest was switched from jail to psychiatric facility. And his sister died early at young age, which also didn't help. Guy had it really rough, but it seems he's currently staying out of bigger trouble.
I liked Jake Lloyd more than the other kid precisely because he didn't have the bad boy vibe. No dark streak like in the other kid. That's the whole point of the tragedy of Anakin/Vader. You see him as a bright innocent kid and unfortunate circumstances turn even the brightest and most innocent of kids into what we saw in Vader. If he was just always dark, there's really nothing of too much substance to that story.
@@edgarperez6052 after the abuse he got his life went down the shitter he now been arrested a bunch of times and has had a drug problem for some time now and just last year he was put in rehab by his mum
@@edgarperez6052 you are correct the media backlash he got was horrible now he never said fans attacks him and that it was the media which is the same for rose actresses. The online paper just say fans did it because that shit sells but I'm sure a few fans actually did bully them to but not many.
Steven Spielberg: "That's great" George Lucas: "It's gonna be great" Steven Spielberg: "That's gonna be great" George Lucas: "It's gonna be great" Steven Spielberg: "That's gonna be great" yep
@@wormie077 Barely. The movies were financial successes and spawned years worth of merchandise including hundreds of comics, novels, dozens of video games, and TWO TV shows. Can't say the same for new trilogy.
Imagine being one of the kids who wanted to be little Anakin and being crushed when they didn’t get the part. Years later they probably realized that they dodged a massive bullet. Feel bad for Jake and hope his life and mental state turn around.
Most people love the prequels now but it’s sad to think how much hate they got for these movies. I mean look at all the love, thought, and passion they put into them.
Well there’s a lot of love, thought, and passion that goes into many films. Films like the original trilogy or a more modern example like Blade Runner 2049 have the same if not more love, thought, and passion put into them but they also had good scripts, good effects, good performances, and just far more qualities. I despise the prequels but I don’t wanna take away your enjoyment. I just wanna share why I personally may not appreciate the passion as much as u do.
Just look at all this work. The storyboard, the props, the training, the models, the patience they all put in,... This is when Star Wars was made with love and passion. This is what the real Star Wars is like.
You missed the fact that the script was rushed and basically a first draft full of plot holes. Passion is from the production side. The writing and directing are not.
@@genetenz The script was not a first draft, you can search up videos of the original concepts for Episode 1 before they were inevitably altered (like how the script for Episode 4 was changed multiple times). The movie had a 2 year period of post-production, so you can't say it was rushed (unlike the sequels), along with there being a 6 hour cut of the movie hidden somewhere. George said after viewing a cut of the movie with his peers that the movie is stylistically designed to be viewed in a particularly bold way, and he suggested editing down/taking out certain parts to diminished the "jarring" effects of it.
Yes most productions are like that! It’s tremendous hard work and creativity! Lots of patience and tons of love of what your doing! Not to mention the huge cost and investment! All the productions I have been in no matter how small all all become have challenging
@@SoCloseToToast he sold it because he was pushing 70 and didn’t want to put another decade into a new trilogy when he wanted to spend time with his family. Also Disney had been pushing for him to sell it for awhile and led him to believe that the future of the franchise would be in good hands.
it says on Jake Lloyd's wiki page... In January 2020, his family issued a statement saying that he has moved closer to his family, and has officially been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
You know that diagnosis is more common than you think. Let hope he get the best help to balance his brain chemistry! Highly creative people are more prone to this! Schubert, Schuman, and all the movie stars that have committed suicide. It can be a part of the creative process the high Sensitivity and desire to communicate on an extremely high level!
I loved how the gentleman pivoted George's lament about spending 100K on a suit they didn't need by "explaining" how it was useful in developing the CGI version! I'm really impressed with Lucas' stamina and patience in seeing the fruits of his imagination come alive and putting together a studio of creative people to help make it happen! It is both inspiring and humbling!
Hearing that crowd cheer in the theater brought tears to my eyes man. Watching these documentaries with you have been a great experience. I already enjoyed the prequels, but this makes me appreciate them so much more. Thank you for bringing us on this adventure with you.
59:35 This.......this is why George is brilliant. And why Disney failed..... George knew exactly what he wanted EVEN down to the music. None of the sequels have that feeling anymore, it sounds like only 3 themes had any thought put into them. I don’t care what people say, George is a genius and a visionary, and his saga really is a testament to that.
George hadn't even finished the script before production began. He just chose what everyone else pitched him. This wasn't a passion project. Purely for money.
And I was one of them at the end.. I camped for Phantom Menace and I’d do it again! And I know the Episode I-III Making Of DVD so well.. as well as I know the movies! I know what they’re gonna say next and what comes next and so on.. Phantom Menace is and will always be my favorite Episode.. And seeing more of Tatooine in Phantom Menace was just absolutely beautiful and you really have to stick to your Prequel hate to not enjoy the Pod Racing.. Pod Racing IS Star Wars! Tense.. the effects are just amazing and awesome first person cinematography.. I just love the Pod Racing scene! There’s so many reasons why I love Phantom Menace..
i loved all, episode 1 to 3... i think hayden played anakin brilliantly, i loved the politics of the story, the battles, the actors.... yes, the CGI of episode 2 didn't age that well, but for back then it was amazing... if George never had the balls to make Episode 1,2 and 3, i couldn't be the proud Seperatist that i am today... DOWN WITH THE CORRUPT REPUBLIC! DEPLOY THE BATTLEDROIDS!!! **CIS MARCH**
Skywalker I think you are the first person I know to say that episode I is your favourite of the Star Wars films, and that makes me happy as I know many people who only find the film ok or don’t like it at all. While my personal favourite is episode III it’s great to know when someone can appreciate a film higher than most people and more importantly have their own opinion rather than follow the crowd.
42:20 "But I think everybody is in the right frame of mind" -cuts to the crew looking absolutely broken 😂Honestly this is one of my favourite documentaries, it has so many unintentionally funny moments, but its also so goddamn interesting and great to see how it all came about
It makes me cry a little watching george love creating what is essentially his children it’s so wholesome to see the man the god of this universe so into his world. It really is inspiring to me as someone who wants to create his own fantasy universe to see someone basically having this epic saga flowing through his head and watching him bring it to life.
I remember being aged 9 and seeing Qui Gonn on the front of a cereal box and thought he looked so cool. & i won a star wars gift in that very same box of cereal. I unfortunately can't remember what it was, but i distinctively remember Qui Gon on that box, finding the toy and being really excited about going to cinema to see it. And 9 year old me loved it. But honestly seeing the behind the scenes stuff and all that goes into it has made me respect the prequels so much more, & respect George so so much more. Seeing how integral he is to literally all parts of the saga is crazy. Everything all the way down to every little ship design, creature design etc. It's such a shame that he writes such bad dialogue as everything about his passion for the galaxy really shows in these documentaries. And after all his work/ideas That he put his soul into for decades, it juat ended up getting huge backlash juat for the script. Resulting in him selling the hole thing and now it just doesn't feel like star wars, it might look like it but something clearly is missing, & after watching these it obvious that something is Mr Lucas!!!! If only someone could have helped sort the script out back in the. 90s, & let Grorge do his thing with everything else, just imagine where Star Wars would be now. A 40 year sage ruined by Rian Johnson for.no reason and poor Georhe Lucas getting such utter diarespect. Lets he him, Filoni and Favreu get Kk out thr dood and get back to where we wanna be. It's such a shame that the skywalker sage (palpatine saga now) has forever been ruoned by RJ and Kk. Poor poor George. He hot like 4 Billion, yet i still feel sorry for him. That's how bad Disney disrespected him. Such a shame. If someone juat said that the dialogue needa sorting, the entire galaxy qould be different. Now we'll never see the otoginal 3 on screen together agaib, & luke.can mever been seen in se light again... Literally. FUCK KATHLEEN KENNEDY AND FUCK ROUNDHEAD JOHNSON.
This takes me back, I used to not only binge watch the movies but also the documentaries. My all time favorite has to be the documentary feature for Episode 3: Within a minute. It's insane the amount of work they put into the Mustafar battle.
When you said "got the chills man" I literally did at the same time, goosebumps. And we are the same age. My dad took me and my 2 best friends (still friends with them to this day), 4th grade, I will never forget seeing it.
God it was really hard to see what the actual sand storm did to the tatooine set, what a resilient crew to overcome and still complete George's vision! Well done to all!
The video has only just come out; do obviously I haven't had the chance to watch it; but the image of Maul in a t-shirt cracks me up for some reason! XD
I feel really sad watching this documentary knowing that the actor who played Jar Jar was suicidal after the backlash for playing the character. He seems so excited and you can see that he tried his best and a lot of heart went into it.
Thank you Theory for going through these films. Even though my brother introduced me to the OG trilogy, the prequels are my Star Wars films. I was 12 when I went to the midnight premier of Phantom Menace and have fond memories of it. I love all three prequels and still enjoy watching the entire saga (1-6) as well as clone wars, rebels and Mando. Love the work you do for the fandom. Thanks from Toronto 🇨🇦 🤙🏻
Theory, I remember the feeling you obviously had after episode 1. I personally saw Starwars in 79, and went to the cinema over and over until watching all 3 in one sitting. Iam currently 49, and something about George Lucas as a story teller which has the passion to fulfil his dream. I just saw the start of episode 1. A LONG TIME AGO IN A GALAXY FAR FAR AWAY. AS SOON as I see that my head doesn't leave the screen and I am myself transported. No other movie has ever had the effect nor come close. Bless you from Australia ❤
as much as episode 1 gets hated on.. you have to admit we probably wouldnt have all these marvels films looking as good as they do now without episode 1.
even attacks of the clones had a big impact. it was the first movie shot on digital cameras so it basically influenced almost every movie shot today including marvel
I totally agree! For sure, Ray Park has serious kung fu and staff/sword skills! He had to be excited to play Maul in Episode 1. It's unfortunate isn't a big action star, with all that training. He did have a small role in Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever as a goverment agent and did a great fight scene with Lucy Lu's character. I know that sounds insane, but it's true.
That scene with the theater opening scene. That took me right back to when I was 9 years old. Man I remember the energy and how excited we all were. It was an amazing experience, so surreal. Very fond memory.
@ittai aronson the older fans are the luckier ones since they got to experience star wars the proper way, and sadly the trilogy of our time was made by our buddies Disney. Was born 2001so I was just a young man when Revenge came out.
As a child watching this back in the day, I've always wanted to make a Star Wars Film just like George. Edit: The props, original characters, and the overall creativity involved just seems so fun to me.
I love the fighting style of maul. It's putting in extra energy but gets the opponent to really only do the one move he wants them to do and that is defend
Many fans didn't like the prequels, but as an old Star Wars fan, I loved them all. Episode one was so awesome, we were in line for almost 2 hours to get into the theater to see it, and i was on cloud nine the entire time. I saw this movie like 50 times. Saw it in the theaters at least 3 times as well. My favorite character is Ewan McGregor's Obi Wan, he did such a terrific job. I cannot wait to see him in his own movie, been waiting a long time for one. As for the last three movies, the best scene out of the 3 combined was at the very end of 9 when Rey says "And I am all the Jedi", and crosses the two sabres and kills Palpatine. Other than that, the last 3 were okay, not nearly as good as the original three, or the prequels. George Lucas is the true master and it shows across all 9 movies.
I remember the night I saw EP3 at century theaters, in Ventura California. We got the New Yorker pizza that had Newt gun Ray on the box and for a dollar you got Padme‘s starship, I remember I took my dad‘s flashlight put some electrical wires on it, put some red electrical tape around a broom handle and somehow attached it to the flashlight so that the light would shine on the red electrical tape replicating a red light saber. This was imagination, this was the magic we all felt. The nostalgia is still there for me and watching this documentary and looking at your face when they show the news archive footage, I was right there with you because I felt the same way.
Love your videos man. I'm a huge prequel fan as well. You and I are the same age so we grew up with the prequels and they were so awe-inspiring to us at that age. Shame for the older generations who didnt appreciate all the hard work that went into them. I'm very thankful to have experienced Star Wars the way I did.
i watched this when it came out in the cinema when i was 7 years old. i had no idea what star wars. my family couldn’t afford to go to the cinema more than once a year but i am forever grateful to my parents for showing me the world of ‘A galaxy far, far away’ and it bred a whole love for all things sci-fi and generally good story telling. I’ll do the same for my future kids one day :)
Just finished watching this video and absolutely loved it! Your reaction added to the enjoyment, and I will definitely be checking out more of these behind the scenes reactions.
Such a crazy feeling when you get a new Star Wars film, everyone is in the theatres, everyone has costumes and lightsabers and everyone is cheering and then… STARWARS! And everyone starts cheering. It’s the best feeling in the world, it really makes you smile, and when you are actually there, all the cheering, everyone is genuinely super happy. ☺️
I love how everyone else ignored Jett the little kid and Ewan didn’t. He listened and acknowledged him like his equal. Kids pick up on stuff like that.
That moment, like how are u gonna top the podrace. And you're like "u mean when 6 year old me peed my pants a little in the theatre when maul buzzed out double sabers?" Edit: so adorable when Anakin says spice pirates lmfao, they grow up so fast
You were only 6 when Episode 1 came out?! You are very young. 22 year old me was very stoked to see young Obi-Wan and his master Qui-Gon lightsaber fight Maul. I though Maul's double bladed lightsaber was quite cool. With two blades, it was so bad ass.
This is Star Wars i love . At some point i could not hold it and tears filed my eyes just for glimpse of a second . To see this docu for first time in my life. LOVE IT
All the fans in the theater...and you said, 'my people.' Yeah, that's exactly it. The fun and happiness of geekdom. I attended Celebration III, just about a month before Revenge of the Sith came out. 40,000+ people the day George Lucas was there. Cosplayers galore. People from all over the world. Amazing. Best moment was walking into a nearby store with my friend, both of us in costume, to get some bottled water and a little kid, maybe five or six tugging on his mom's sleeve: "Mom, look! Real Jedi!" Made me grin the rest of the day. ;)
I was 9 years old too man. What a journey. These movies embody a child’s imagination takes me back in time to that feeling I had as a kid watching these movies. That feeling of hope and something greater.
I'm really happy to see all of these bonus DVDs! To be honest, I've never been a huge fan of the prequels, but I still find all the behind the scenes stuff so interesting. Plus I always have had a lot respect for George and the work that goes into this and how he continues to change movie making
I will admit one thing I never thought it would be possible but back when I saw the prequels I joined the hate bandwagon and said that they sucked and it was totally not Star wars after seeing the sequel trilogy I didn't realize just how good we had it
I’ve always loved the Prequels… I not once complained about them.. I waited in line on May 19th 1999 for 3 1/2 hours to see EPISODE 1.. I’m 43, and have loved star wars since I was 4
