...I've worked in the music biz for over 20 years. I worked with danity kane. Puff dismantled this group because he lost his deal with mtv. They were all treated terrible, I'm sure all the girls had lots of trauma. Puff made millions, the girls left broke. Puff is a horrible person, if people only knew. He broke this up.
I think the girls were fed up with being reality tv stars as opposed to being singers in a band. It seems like they took part in the show and won their spots in the band and thought their dreams of pop stardom had come true but Diddy was making so much money from the MTB show that he wanted to stick with the reality show as opposed to actually managing and promoting a band.
Hahah sometimes he reminds me of my dad, meaning his way or no way and there is no getting your point across, if it’s different and then he throws out those ultimatums and then I’m like an Aubrey where I get pissed and then blurt it all out. We are in a much better place now, but we had major issues in the past.
Can you tell me why I'm still crying watching this in 2023. I've never been this heartbroken over a music artist (aside from Whitney Houston's death) Been rewatching MTB seasons and soaking up the nostalgia. Then this infamous scene comes up and Im taken right back to that night first seeing it. DK is so interesting to me. They've been thru so many versions, 4somes, threesomes, duos, fights, forgiveness etc And still continue to want to work together. I wish the best for everyone. Shannon has her kids company Vooks, Dawn and her solo act, animation with Adult Swim etc, Aubrey and her solo act+other entertainment ventures, Aundrea and her family life. They really made an impact. 😊
I totally forgot he tried to get them all to sit down with each other one last time to work it out and only Dawn and Aubrey showed up. Shannon was even ignoring calls. I honestly think he regretted saying what he said to DWoods. He was so furious at Aubrey he took it out on DWoods and then he tried to correct himself but it was too late at that point.
No. Aubrey was fired, along with D-Woods and the following season, only Dawn & Andrea showed up. Shannon hired a lawyer and she was advised not to speak on the situation, nor be involved with the show which was a smart move. At the end of the season, Diddy ended up releasing Aubrey, D-Woods, Shannon and in the end, Andrea from their contracts, only to leave Dawn as the only remaining member of DK which eventually got disbanded and she ended up joining Diddy’s Dirty Money group. So Aubrey was totally right with what Diddy was doing with Dawn, having her record solo records for his group and screwing up DK.
Nah Aubrey was doing the most. If it wasn’t for her constantly overstepping and changing her look the group would have been fine. Her ego got the best of her and the group.

Everything makes sense. Some of the women have come forward in podcasts saying Diddy had no idea how much DK was going to blow up so Bad Boy didn’t even produce enough CDs for sales. They were ready to move on to the next season of MTB and thought we would forget about DK. BB took all the money and didn’t pay them. Aubrey comes from an educated family of lawyers, she smart as hell and went ‘nah’, made her money on Broadway and her other endeavors because the girl was probably struggling like the rest of them. Diddy did not expect this to happen, knew Aubrey could open her mouth and expose him so he put an end to it by blaming them for not showing up to performances (they weren’t getting paid for). Good for Aubrey. Why else did a low-key person like Shannon move back home immediately after DK was over and didn’t pick up the phone ever again, despite the ‘pleasant' work relationship? She has her boundaries, understood that Diddy was scheming and it wasn’t worth to fight it due to Diddy’s power, chose peace and moved on to the next job that puts food on the table. Aundrea was kind of the same even though she probably had some hope immediately after Aubrey and D.Woods got fired. Dawn was made to believe she was the chosen one by Diddy, I assume.
It’s interesting how Aubrey said the same thing Dawn said but she wasn’t heard. Sissy messed this group up and he was a part of the slick behind the scenes stuff and Dawn fell for it cause he disbanded dirty money just as quick if not quicker then Danity Kane
I genuinely think the relationship between all 5 members was solid, however the music industry is a killer industry and there's so much pressure to attain a certain status and Bad Boy messed Danity Kane all up. If one person or two people were fired, I would have rallied everyone to leave together and join another label that truly cares for the mental health and well being of its employees. They could have gone far!
Diddy and Aubrey were having a power battle. He chose her first to the make the band, and basically said she was the leader. They both had big egos and it got in the way of the group. Aubrey should’ve spent less time on her public image and focused on the group. She got caught up in the hype of it all. Diddy and Aubrey ruined Danity Kane! That 5 part harmony at the end 😢

Diddy did this on purpose, he didnt want to work it out, I feel like he probably didn't like the band anymore and wanted to start fresh with Dawn for Dirty Money. But then got tired and bored of Dirty Money so it ended quick too. That's his pattern
What people dont want to admit is diddy knew exactly what he was doing when he fired Aubrey there was no Danity kane without Aubrey. He knew he was destroying it right there because she was the star power and he didnt want it to go on or he wouldn't of fired Aubrey. Without her it wasnt a group. There are many groups when you fire one it ruins everything. She wasnt the one he could fire but he knew that. He got his money and he fired Aubrey because she said the truth and questioned his loyalty. Which he has none. He only sees green he cares nothing about the artist. He screwed Biggie who made him out of millions. Biggie was leaving his label and thats why he isnt here anymore. And anybody that doesn't see it needs to wake up. Even if he didn’t make the decision they wouldn’t have lasted long. They didn’t get along too much from the start. They made great music but their personalities wouldn’t have allowed for them to get along. The industry would’ve gotten to them with or without Diddy.
Que said everything we need to know about Dawn. She clearly said some things about Aubrey doing Hairspray and was jealous. The way Dawn was fake acting concerned then suggesting they need to continue without the two is very telling. Donnie Klang owns his own recording studio, Dawn has been doing good for self as an indie artist, Day26 still do shows & got an album on the way & have released 2 EP’s independently and also are doing good for themselves as a group & solo artists

The funny thing is - she did an interview a few years ago , AMAZING INTERVIEW, and she said they as a group had a convo prior to this scene in the car outside where they agreed they’d play face and say they were fine but Aubrey kind of blew the spot up so some scenes Dawn looks completely lost because Aubrey popped up with this random rumor that Dawn had a deal with Diddy on the side which was not true. Aubrey got that info from MTV which is shown here and Dawn makes a “wtf” face at 2:39. Dawn said the groups downfall started because of outsiders being in everyones ear Dawn also appeared in her interview to not have been shocked Aubrey got fired because they (Diddy and Aubrey) were bumping heads for so long, she expected Diddy to snap. Diddy built up Aubrey to be how she was by time she got fired and the fact she always talked back, got loud and aggressive with him hurt his ego and essentially him firing her was a way to remind her that she is not his equal in any capacity - hence why he said “I didn’t work this hard for you to talk to me like this - you’re done” (she had a little of a big head because she was a socialite hanging with the Hiltons, the Kardashians, etc at the time)

I agree! None of his artists not even Mase has major success outside of him. Not one person is nearly as successful as Diddy. It's like no one shines as bright or brighter than him. Crazy how Rich Diddy is and none of his artists have come close to that. When you look at other artists over a label, Jay, Dame, Kanye, Russell, La Reid with Arista, Clive Davidson, these men created successful millionaires and billionaires but not Sean Combs. People can keep getting on here trying to say oh well this person had indi albums and this person has a studio. No doubt talented people can always find a way to make some money but again NONE of them are as successful or even close to the level of success that Diddy is because he makes sure no one around him gets to the level and we all know it! He gave his kids and his mom most if not all of his artists publishing instead of giving it to them. He just now offered these groups their publishing rights after he has literally drained them dry to the point where they wouldn't even clear 1k a month in the future for those rights. So you are absolutely right he is the pariah of the industry when it comes to deal making and money making. No one wants to work with him anymore as an artist because he is a well known snake and this was before all these sexual assault allegations.

The writings were on the wall on this very stage. DK4 could have started here and went on to continue the success, but Aubrey's ego made Diddy AND the other girls uncomfortable. Sidebar: I find it hard to believe if Diddy were paying them more than enough to live comfortably that any of the issues they had with each other would have led to the demise of the group.
It's 100% a factor in their demise. Even when Diddy wasn't in the equation they fought and she was at the center. I'm a fan of all of them. I love that Aubrey is so outspoken. At the same time there's a piece of her that is too self-indulgent to be in a group. I'd venture to say if she had any hint of major solo success in music she would have never been interested in the half-baked reunions we got.

I think Aubrey just dont like the way how Diddy treated Danity Kane... So she would stood up for them like Sisters stood up for each other. She said it once that she would speak up if she feel like Business was being handle incorrectly. But I dont blame Diddy for disbanding the group too because they all look like they starting to lose interests in the group and D Woods after when she get kicked out of Danity Kane she seems like she doesn't want anything to do with them anymore, my point about D Woods is that if you truly love your group then you would fight for it no matter what and this point is also being directed to Aundrea too because she did seems like she lose interest in the group after the disbandment of Danity Kane when there was four of them come and reunited with each other. Aubrey is the only one who doesn't deserve of being split from the group because she is so group material. @Cameron Robinson well Diddy is tough to work with... Anxiety is a thing especially for women or girls... So of course they would feel like they are being mistreated by Diddy because he was harsh to them. It's like nothing that they do could ever impress him I mean he did get impressed once in a long time but he could've show more impressiveness to them. I think if Diddy show more impressiveness to them like what they deserve then the group would still last even until now. They also said it once that they did not want to go in another direction other than just be in a band/group that time when they are still under Bad Boy entertainment.
It was pretty sad and shocking when this happened, although it wasn't surprising that Diddy disbanded yet another band. The truth is, Aubrey DID change from the person we all were rooting for. She went from a confident but humble 'California girl' with the 'It factor', to loud, trashy, and self-centered. She knew she was the most popular in the band and it got to her. Not only did her looks change, but her ego skyrocketed. It got to where I didn't want to watch the show or any interviews because of her ego.

I remember watching that whole series back then like “why would Puff dismantle the group with two no.1 albums and they are really gaining momentum?” It made NO sense. It’s doesn’t matter who told him what. He’s a woman beater and a narcissistic psychopath who changed his mind all the time and had those girls chasing their tails to please him and whatever demand he made on any given day. Ditty is not a stable person so he’s not going to handle information in a reasonable manner. It is not uncommon for people within a group to work on independent projects. Most of the time in the music industry singers won’t see any money until the record sales are high. They need to support themselves in the mean time. And let’s just face it most people who worked with ditty ended up broke.

The truth of the matter is Aubrey broke up DK, not only by her actions but once she was gone it was very clear that D.Woods wouldn’t stay without her. Aubrey wanted to be the next Paris Hilton and she was sleeping with managers and many people in the industry trying to get ahead. It is what it is. They all are talented but they didn’t think that it could end so abruptly but that’s the nature of this business.
