Next time, you should use a thin plastick or a piece of paper to pose the wings. You wouldn't have to poke the needles through the wings, just though the paper
Appreciate the link. When I was palm sanding ally, commercially, I found that any oil based spray (WD40 was fave) was the most convenient way to keep the grit clear, almost tripled it's life.
I appreciate you not killing them for fun and just recycling, what nature already took care off. I found a dead butterfly too, so I thought of doing this. 🦋🐛
I've only watched a minute and 20 seconds of this video and so far it seems to me it's the best one so far that you've made. Let me reiterate that the best project I've seen you make so far. And I like all the things you've done so far that I've watched. Thanks for the entertainment and your beautiful creations. I would love to be able to afford one of your fine pieces of art. Maybe someday
Hi Ben, I love your channel. As you get such a lot of messages here, you may not even read them all but can I suggest when you make another casting like this one with LED lighting, before you polished the side against the LED'S test it first, you might like the Diffused look of the lighting better. And if you dont like it you can always polish it after...Just a thought. PS, I am pleased to see you found the dead Butterfly and didn't kill it. Regards Liz
I dont know who is the 117 people who pressed the unlike button but im pretty sure they are jealous 🤣. You have a beautiful talent and i loved this sooo much . Wish you all the best🌸
Such a beautiful project, I’d love to see you do the same thing of a grander scale, so you could actually use it as a real lamp like light in a lounge, or bedroom or another room in your home, modifying the design to make it really attractive for today’s homes. I think if you got it right, you could be inundated with orders. Xxx
This is so beautiful! I wish I had the strength to do it. I'm afraid of flying insects, but gosh, I'd love to be able to do something beautiful like this.
Nice. A couple pointers though. Electrical tape is used to tape wires together and down by connecting to their insulator. Never use tape as an insulator because it's going to fail. Get heat shrink tubing the instead. Works way better. Did you think to make the bottom with the light shining on it not shiny to diffuse the light? It could make the butterfly light up more.
Nice work! Next time, solder the wires directly to the strip light rather than to the wires, it will be a lot easier. Also, maybe try leaving the base unpolished so it acts like a diffuser, making a more even light.
Awesome piece! So many things you could put in the resin to highlight like that. Absolutely love the idea. Keep up the good work! I hope you feel better soon.
Lots of butterflies mate, the female lays her eggs and then they both die within a day. While I'm sure some might catch live ones to use, I could never do that. What a way to preserve such beauty. I almost cried when 1 of the antennas fell off, but they are so fragile. Ben, I have a question. I've noticed that quite often the top of the cured resin has waves in it. Is that because of the type of resin you need to use for your projects, or is it because of being on the pressure pot. I don't have the equipment for intensive sanding
@@dexnull2481 I've seen that before, it's neat but I'm thinking more along the lines of being preserved in a resin cube like the butterfly but on a more massive scale.
Well it's not gonna be a good preservation because the human body it's hollow and you'll just rot unless of couse if you emblam yourself first then you are casted in a resin. Don't go of killing yourself already cause that would be pretty expensive. There checked
Just goes to show that you can resin butterfly's, as normally they lose the Colors of there beautiful wings, when resined, that butterfly is really beautiful, the way you done it, do you have any more videos of resined insects? !! Thankyou
@@BensWorx I've wanted to try resin for a butterfly ,but I'm no expert, there is preparation, before anyone would ever start to resin a butterfly, I must share a true story with you, when I was a child we were living, in England, and had a small window in an outside toilet, as I remember going in, I saw the most beautiful and large butterfly that I had ever seen in my life,!! It was a gorgeous power blue, with a wing span of the size of an adult hand,, I called my mother asking if I could keep it,!!! She told me that it was a very special butterfly, and must have traveled a long way, and had a family somewhere!! I remember I cried my eyes out as my mother told me then that we had to let it go,I'll never forget that,, he or she was really beautiful, a few years ago I had a dragonfly land on the tip of my finger, a metallic green there were two flying around at the time, a purple one that flew next door, year after a metallic gold one after the morning dew, looked like it was studded with diamons, soon as I went in for a closer look it flew away, nature is wonderful and beautiful, though I would share that with you, if you had seen a large butterfly like that that had died you couldent pass that up ,,,COULD YOU!!!!,???please let me know what you think of that it most definitely is true. I was about 5 or 6 years then .
