Composing and recording music is my passion so it is important that my guitars sound great, have a range of tones and are nice to play. I have produced and recorded all the music in my videos using either Cubase Pro or Cubasis on the iPad.

Making the tools is as much fun as making the guitar for me. Cheers Dave

I love the fact that you found some threaded rod in the garden when you moved into your house and instead of just chucking them into the dumpster, you took the time to clean them up and put them away for future use. I’m sure you have tons of stuff like that, as do I. Scraps, table legs, all-thread, wheels, metal angle and brackets. I walk a couple miles a day and often drag home detritus neighbors have left for the garbage or scrap man (there’s still a scrap man. He picks up old grills, lawnmowers, wheel barrows and snowblowers). Very interesting and educational always, Dave.

I have a 4” clamp and chisel that were rusted up but cleaned up lovely. One folk’s rubbish another’s treasure 😄 cheers Dave

Hi Dave. I thought your guitar was the best one in the GGBO last year because of your innovation, risk taking and original artwork. I feel we can only make better guitars if we push the boundaries of what can be done. I have entered the GGBO myself this year in the freestyle section and I will be making a "narrow neck nylon string electro/acoustic with zero fret". I am making my sides differently to you but I appreciate the jig compilation and will probably make some of the viola clamps, so, thank you.

Dave, Have you considered building a steam box for wood bending? I think it is the more common method for wood bending in the WW world. I know one of the WW tool suppliers offers a steam making machine just for that purpose. I didn't finish your video before writing this but I will be very surprised if a light bulb does the trick. But if so, well, I just learned something. St. Louis, MO US

Thank you for your comments, I actually built a steam box then watched some folk using bending irons so I never actually used the steam box. I get pretty good results with my bending iron with a 60watt bulb. It bends the wood without burning or getting too wet. I demonstrate it in the next episode out on Saturday. Cheers Dave

A 40W bulb was never going to get that pipe hot enough and based on what I can achieve with my soldering iron, I can't see a 60W bulb being powerful enough either. Check out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ijJJ-QwX9Nk.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mCyOz_K0nm4.html. I know re-inventing the wheel can be fun, but it's very time and resource consuming. If you later intend to do tight curves with difficult woods (e.g. curly or quilted maple) I would recommend trying to work out how you can apply heat to both sides of the wet wood while bending; a metal band with a small silicone heat blanket for example.

Hi Ric, I do love reinventing the wheel even though as you rightly say it takes time. Hopefully you’ll be surprised what I can achieve with a 60w bulb in my bending iron in the next episode out on Saturday. Thank you for all the links. Cheers Dave
