Just stumbled across this video and it brought back a lot of memories for me. My dad had one, a 1997 P-reg 1.9 NA Diesel Avantage in a slightly lighter green. He had it in the very early 2000’s, maybe even in the year 2000. And it later became my first car in 2005 when I passed my test. It was so slow, had no mod-cons, typical French electrics and central locking which didn’t work. But god I loved that car. It’s one of the only cars I’ve owned I wish I could own again. Oh and I fully remember the parcel shelf ties flapping around in front of the rear lights 😂

These have all but disappeared in NZ sadly. My family had an early 1.6 aura, no power steering, so very heavy, and a later 1.8 aura 3 door. Great cars!

I've got a 1.4i ZX also on a P plate in the exact same trim level (SX) as that one, but in pensioner beige. You can disable the immobiliser by disconnecting the keypad when the engine is running. They all rot in the same places - mainly the strut towers and they look like they've been done on that example. The seats are super comfortable and the ride is typically French. The passive rear wheel steering makes them good fun on the twisty B roads.

Love the new review titles ( first seen on the Astra) featuring Peggy! That seat fabric is really different, always liked the ZX although at the time it was seen as a bit boring although competent. Think it was also the basis for the brilliant 306.

I have a 1995 ZX 2.0i manual petrol and a 1996 ZX 16v 2.0 manual. Both are still running and does 400km (single) trips regularly.

I really enjoyed that Jake. The ZX is a very fine car. My Uncle drove a pretty basic spec five door with the N/A diesel and it proved to be one of the most reliable cars he ever owned. A friend had a three door Volcan which was very nice. I love that interior fabric, in fact the whole interior looks pretty inviting. The underslung spare wheel was pretty common in many Peugeot/Citroen and Renault up to the early 90's.

I can never quite figure out if the ones I see are metallic green or metallic red!! Colourblindness issues. For years I thought a mates dad had a metallic green Renault 25 company car. A good ten years or more after that car went I was told it was red. lol the embarrassment!!😂

Good sensible video but your history is wrong. The ZX replaced the BX, which was a strange size, bigger than an Escort and Golf etc but not quite as big as say a Sierra . After making the BX for 14 years it took 2 cars to replace it, the ZX and the Xantia. As you say the passive rear wheel steering was a big hit, production of all cars on this platform, or an extended version of it include the Xsara, Picasso, Berlingo the Peugeot and Chinese versions is thought to be upwards of 14 million - heading into model T territory.
