Those are some skookum blinds! My wife has been bothering me to get some blinds for the windows in the front room, and since I'm still cooped up inside, I may as well take inspiration from this and make my own. I'm thinking I'll make the slats wider (I have nice deep window frames to work with) so there are fewer of them, and I'll make the slats thinner, maybe 3/16 instead of 3/8 so they don't block the view quite as much in the open position. I've got some nice straight maple in 1/4 thickness so I should be able to use that for the slats themselves by running it through the planer. I'll have to see how thin I can get them without warping. A pulley with a cord on it could aid in opening the blinds, too. I noticed with your design, you kind of have to be tall enough to reach the linkage, so I'll need to create a system that allows you to manipulate the linkage with a loop of cord and some pulleys. Thanks for the inspiration!
@Masood1810
@Masood1810 4 года назад
A pulley or a gear system would be awesome to look at. Try and make the overlapping parts of the blinds in a grove, so that they still nice and snug and block all light when in use. Very thin blinds would be just great - it'll enhance the view when left open. Best of luck mate.
