In this video I show you how to measure the hole spacing on your fiber laser bed. Bring that info into lightburn and before you know it you will have the foundation to making any jig you need. I cover the complete process that’s why this video is a little longer. At the end we engrave some leatherette patches to test out the new jig.

Excellent tutorial Robert. I am fixing to engrave 50 keychains on my fiber. I will take the time to build this jig beforehand. As always, you have created another valuable and perfect video. Thanks!!

I really appreciate the time and effort you take on making these videos. They're extremely enjoyable, very informative. Thank you. I don't own a laser of any kind, but I did approximately 25 years ago it was a 40 watt Universal. It cost approximately $42,000. I'll type that number again so you will know it's not a typo. $42,000. One other comment, measuring center to center. If you measure from the inside of one object to the outside of the other, the measurement will be center center. Again thanks

I appreciate your comments, they have come along way in lasers and price that’s for sure.

Great video especially for a bread board. For production runs, you might want to consider making a jis that can swap out, so you can load on up one jig with 6 patches while the other jig is engraving saving even more time. But great video.

even on a fiber it’s takes time to align things back up. I’ve tried both ways and this is the most reliable for the patches I do. because they are round if your design is off just a little you can tell. thanks for input!

When you place the black perimeter on the bread board, how do you know exactly how far up and to the right of the mounting holes it needs to be? It looked like you eye-balled it on the CO2 template after observing the fiber laser layout on the table. Do you cut out the entire breadboard before or after you place the leatherette cutouts in the design? What am I missing here?

re watch the idea you will get it! its not easy to get the first time.

So, do you cutout the breadboard twice or once? I was expecting to do all of the cutting once on the CO2, but the alignment of the fiber area may be off if I am guesstimating it based on what I see on the fiber.

Once if you don’t want a spare

I just got a 50w fiber laser. I really need to make a jig but I don’t have a C02 laser. Do you have a recommendation for what type of material I should use for the jig?

I use Baltic birch but it can warp or use mdf it’s much stabler.
