Makita covering all the bases with the guide rail compatibility and brilliant guide rail, which I assume will be easy to keep accurate. Awesome saw , and the power. All saws should be rail compatible now. Nobody is doing such great in-depth reviews like this . Love it 🥰

This is the Makita that's going to finally push me into Makita 40V territory. I have so many bloody battery systems that I'm going in kicking and screaming ... BUT this saw is simply too good not to take the plunge. I'm rural so it's been an ongoing frustration that my bigger saws are either workshop bound or need a generator. This new Makita effectively makes my uber expensive Festool HK85 a museum piece!

I am happy still living in a world of 18v Makita tools as watching your vids can easily make me part with my spondoolies aka £ € $ ¥. What a unit this saw is, imagine taking this saw back 30 years and showing it to and putting it in hands of the tradesmen of the day.

I don"t see why they couldn't make a 36v version of this saw at some point. Won't be as strong as the 40v, but most 36v tools keep up well enough. The only thing the 18v won't be able to feasibly match is the 80v tools... unless they make a 4x 18v monster. I really hope they will keep pushing the 18v line forward and not save all the great stuff for 40v.

The 125mm saw seems great for everyday cuts as it can cut 45mm in 1 pass and it reverse bevels for flush undercuts. The 270mm would be amazing for hand cut rafters and 100x100 posts. Only problem i see is small saw has very limited blades available (non in Australia that I am aware of) so i will be hanging out for the 165mm blade left.

@@alexhamon9261 yeah, the Makita 5402NA is kinda terrifying. Really useful if you need it, but the idea of one of those with a couple of 40V/8Ah batteries... you just know some US "cabin in the wilderness" type would buy that to go with their chainsaw mill.
@robertrada4783
@robertrada4783 2 года назад
@@mozismobile The good news is that the cabin in the woods type of person wouldn’t spend beam saw money on a power tool. Skilsaw responded to Bigfoot with their Sasquatch line at some point and I wouldn’t be surprised if Chervon tries for a cordless version. I really wouldn’t be surprised either if Makita at least goes 14” down the road. I tried and failed to find the RU-vid video of the enormous “portable” “handheld power tool” glulam saw. If anyone can try to find it, you will be rewarded in sheer entertainment. That thing was ridiculous.

I just ordered the HS003G and the SP001G up here in Canadia. This one will be next. I'm waiting for it to come as a kit, hoping it will be like the RS002G and only cost an extra $100 for the 4.0 kit, whereas every other 4.0 kit's an extra $300. As for other reviews, how about the UC013G? I'm sure you're already on it though. Also looking forward to you getting your hands on the BL4080F. Always looking forward to the next one! 👍🏻

Great video....love your work...I am seriously considering buying this saw..I have 2 questions I hope you can help with. Have you used it on marine plywood panels (that I am going to use internally on walls in our woolshed style house build) and how does it compare with the Makita 4OV track saw in terms of cleanness of cut? Secondly, what is the minimum rip width using the rip guide? I'm wanting to rip 30-40mm off 140 x 45 treated pine. Cheers

Since I don't cut much material over 50mm, and mostly cut things from 19-40mm, I'm keeping the 125mm and 165mm. Unfortunately for me, the only 40V available in the US are the two 7 1/4 (180mm) models. I bought the 125mm on eBay which cost me way too much money, but I had to have it. I've since made it my main saw as it is a joy to use on most things. My next 40V saw purchase will be the 165mm, but I'm hoping it will release directly in the US market so I don't have to buy it on eBay and pay almost $400 for it. If I were invested in the Makita track system I would get the 7 1/4 model, but my track system is Bosch as i find it far superior to the Festool and Makita systems. The Bosch track system connects faster and in a better way, it has two groves for the clamps allowing for use on much more narrow material, and the corded Bosch track saw is better than the corded options from Makita and Festool. My saw collection is out of control though. I have 3 Makita cordless saws (the 125mm and two 165mm 18v), and two Bosch cordless, and the corded Bosch track saw, and I have the Festool HKC 55.

Dewalt needs to pick up their game, not alot of choice right now. The dsc579 is a beast and is unrivalled imo, but I think dewalt needs to make 165mm and 270mm versions of it. 270mm running on their 15ah battery would be amazing for cutting framing members, and 165 with their power-stack battery would be good on the roof. 180mm dsc579 can be general framing saw. What blade kerf has this makita got? 1.3mm or 2.6mm?
@CrookedSkew
@CrookedSkew 2 года назад
Which saw to keep depends on the breakdown and nature of your work. How much cross vs rip? How much bevel, mitre or compound cuts do you do on small and large wood? Do you cut more sheet goods than planks or is it about 50-50? Are you find with stacking sheet goods to cut? What about weight? I find some medium sized power tools great but after a time, too heavy to use due to fatigue.

17:10 That notch should line up with the left (inside) edge of the blade. That edge is fixed by the arbor, using different kerf blades only changes the position of the right (outside) edge of the blade. If you draw a line and cut along it using that notch as a guide then the blade should cut exactly to the right of the line.

Awesome review as always. .. i ordered 125mm circular. But changed my mind when I found out there were no blades available here in nz.. opted for a 165mm instead..

The 125 is awesome, but the 165 is what I use the most. And yeah, all the 125 blades have to come from Japan.

I got the 165mm last year after watching the review here. Its been great for me as a diyer who likes to reclaim/rip pine. I got a irwin blade from bunnings and thats pretty good for rough cutting. Hope u enjoy the saw!

@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL yeh mate. Plus the shipping.. stick To efficut all the way..:). Bring on 8Ah on 125mm.. oh wait.. love to see the depth cut on that.. if base plate allows..haha..

Is the 270mm available in The US market? Anyone please that knows? All the others I’ve seen are like 7-1/2 diameter blade max. This bad boys like just over 10 inches in diameter being 270mm if I did my conversion correctly, no?

I wonder if makita is going to do a left sides smaller 40v circular saw. My dad has used a left sided 18v for ages and he has been complaining about my 40v 190mm saw because he can't see his scribe lines. would love to see one in an 165 or 190 config

This saw really make me wanna buy into the makita 40v system. But at the same time, I would not want to have more battery systems

I'm curious if this saw preforms better with the 8Ah battery on it.

The 2 F batteries do help this saw perform a bit better when sustaining RPM under load

Can you put the guide out the other side to get a wider rip?

Yes you can. But the MINIMUM width out that side is 227mm
