I'm glad to see the different versions of Makita's 40v drill. Most channels will only show the full size hammer drill. I'm interested in the others as well.

I just bought into the 40v line with the only drill / driver combo they have available (I'm in the states), it was way more cost effective than getting a drill and impact driver separately. The combo comes with the top of the line impact driver and the "GPH01" aka top of the line hammer drill. IMPORTANT TO KEEP IN MIND: the GPH01 is HEAVY. It's too heavy (in my opinion) to have on your tool belt for pre drilling holes or using at a slower speed for being more careful with delicate screws. For this I will continue to use my 18v subcompact drill / driver. By the way I am very happy with the "GPH01" -- it's a beast. I needed to add a cordless hammer drill to my arsenal. I will be getting the "GFD02Z" bare tool "entry level" drill driver soon. Thanks so much for your videos!!

I wouldn’t call the gph02 an entry level drill. It’s advertised as a compact model, it’s lighter then the gph01. It’s something to think about if you have to carry it on your tool bags everyday.

As primarily a woodworker and not a builder, I really enjoy the mechanical clutch on the mid tier drills. In my experience, an electronic clutch tends to blow past the desired torque because of the slow nature of sensing/reacting whereas a mechanical clutch reacts instantly and never pushes too far. Also, using an electronic clutch creates the need for a delay between trigger pull and the motion of the drill, otherwise it would overshoot the desired torque even further than it already does.

DF002G not available in Australia. Am considering 40V for Saws - but don't want/need a super heavy and expensive drill driver.

You forgot the "kickback" safety on the hp001g and the df. Test that! Hold the drill, drive him an give him a little tap on the battery sideways, it will turn off to safe your wrist when your drillbit get stuck in the material ;-)
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL

The kickback control is rubbish. These drills will still spin you round if they want to.

Does anyone know why hammer drill and drill driver is the same weight and size. One would think that the hammer function would increase weight and length.

Drills, drills, drills, and drills! I'm not on the XGT platform yet. I have to say, though, if/when I buy in it would be silly fore to NOT buy the MONSTER drill. I mean, come on! Why mess with anything less. I already have the top LXT model if I want less power. QUESTION: How are you liking the XGT miter saw? Maybe a video on how it's working out for you and any other thoughts/feelings would be in order. I'm sure there are plenty of people like me who would love to own it, but are a little scared of the price tag. Cheers! And thanks for the video!

the capability of this tool is really great, its just not so small and compact as other options out there. this is why i am waiting for the flex FXM202-2B kit to become available. which should be cheaper too. since i cannot really justify the makita prices here in UK... not just the price of the bare too, but also the batteries. but i really like the digital clutch feature / setting on this tool. for controlling the torque of the screws. really nice, wish it appear on more tools in the future
@dreamcat4
@dreamcat4 3 года назад
but one feature i did not see mentioned here in this video was anti kick back safety cutout (for drilling, not the screw mode). because the flex turbo drill has a gyroscope sensor in it. and detects when the drill if trying to twist your hand off. and will stop autometically. so does these 40v makita also have such a feature? it would be nice to know if that is the case

Thanks for the great comparison. You have the best Makita XGT reviews. I have now bought a DF001 and it is an excellent machine, but I would really like to know if it is normal to have a small amount of movement with the chuck both backwards and forwards in a range of about 1mm to 1.5mm. I can move the chuck by hand forward or backward, the same way the chuck moves when I tilt the drill. Is this a feature of the drill or a defect?

I’m looking at getting the top of the line drill. Is it best to go with the one without the hammer drill option if you already have a rotary hammer drill?
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL 3 месяца назад
If you aren't going to ever use the hammer function don't get it, as it usually adds cost, weight, size and fragility to the drill. That said, I always get the hammer drills😄

@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL It’s a tricky one. I’ve always used the rotary hammer drill as I’ve always been disappointed in the 18v drill hammer capabilities.

I think all of us Makita LXT users know that their medium duty drills/drill-drivers are ho-hum. The light duty drills (sub-compact) are smaller than most 12v drills on the market and put out 40nm paper (more like 45-50). The medium duty drills put out about a 100 more inch lbs and are almost the size of the heavy duty drills. Makita just refreshed the "sub-compact" drills. Where's the XGT version? Where's my 40v DDF083? Nicole Simpson can't rap.

Intro inspired by: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4Ng1IAtrbok.html It's weird, the lower end model looks like the metal housing behind the chuck has indents that would accept a side handle... maybe it's an option that can be bought separately? That brushed DHP458 (XPH03 here) was my first cordless drill. It's a beast and still an excellent tool 👍

Well, i dont dislike any videos and i dont need to see any dewalt videos because i own those machines... That being said, 2 gears arent enough to drill steel simply because it is allways too slow/fast (right speed for hss bit is roughly 6000 devided drill diameter). And we can clearly see in that video that machine strugle to drive that big screw despite claim those big newtons... And dont get me wrong, i would like to buy makita because it is cheaper than hilti,fein or dewalt... Only broblem is that unlike this video those drills suck...🤷🏻
