Part of what made me decide I wanted XGT torque was wanting to run a 3" planting auger to dig holes for all my transplants on a large garden, about cooked an Milwaukee M18 combi drill. Good to see the Makita has the beans to turn a much more substantial auger.

@@brianwilliams9813 I don't know how many of these you use daily, but up until 8 odd years ago, my first choice for a powertool was one that plugged into the wall. I've had rechargeable Makita gear since the late '90's and for their time they were good, but they were a joke compared to 240 volt power if you were in a hurry. Since they've switched to brushless and have gone 18x2 on the more demanding tools, (and now the XGT line) I haven't touched my Corded collection, and there's some damn good stuff amongst it. So yes, to me it's been fast, if you were 18 you'd have a different perspective.

Just as with Ice auger , this has the problem that you can injure your hand . People started using cordless drills with Ice auger and new line injuries appeared to ER , people with massive thumb injury . In Finland Makita DDF486RTJ is sold with ice auger Rapala UR EVO EZ Makita Edition 155mm , that has a guard on the shaft .

I use this often for post I find it usually gets through clay/sandstone but what stops it in its tracks are roots that are about 2inches plus. It saves a lot of time but you get unlucky with roots sometimes.

*THIS IS NOT A CRAZY IDEA BECAUSE MAKITA ALREADY MAKES HANDLES TO PUT ON THEIR EQUIVALENT TO MILWAUKEES SUPER HAWG, THE EXTRA HANDLES ARE FOR PROPER HANDLING/BRACING* TRY A HEAVY DUTY DRILL, ELECTRIC WILL WORK LIKE A SUPER HAWG

There has got to be someone on this planet who is making adapters for tool batteries that can adjust voltage. I wish I could use my 60v dewalt batteries on 40v makita tools.
@bossmanz28
@bossmanz28 2 года назад
It wouldnt work. 60v (54v) has to be in configuration of 15 cells (15,30,45,60 etc) 40v (36v) has to be in configuration of 10 cells (10,20,30,40 etc). 20v (18v) works cuz its a configuration of 5 cells (5,10,15, 20 etc) theres one flexvolt battery that could work with the makita 40v if the wiring was proper and thats the 15ah flexvolt cuz its a 30 cell battery which can work for either voltage. Has to be wired properly for it tho. I dont know how some1 could make an adpater that would change the battery to proper wiring and voltage

@@bossmanz28 Reducing voltage is old tek. It may not work the same way as a flex volt battery, but it certainly is possible.

I bought my adapter and the bolt won't fit the hole to secure my drill to the auger
@isaiahii6982
@isaiahii6982 2 года назад
When using an auger you need to clear the hole as you go down. Even with big powerful augers you need to keep clearing the blade of dirt as you drill.

You can say an amateur is using that drill. Reducing the speed will give more torque and more control over the tool.
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL 2 года назад
You can see an amateur made this comment as you have not listened as the tool IS on the lowest setting as was talked about in the video. Nor do you understand physics in relation to the increased speed of the outer diameter of drill bits with the increase in size. If you are going to come at people, make sure you know what you are talking about, because you don't pal.
