Very well done Matt. I appreciate your step by step approach to figuring this out.

If the solder doesn’t hold, try using a self-tapping brass screw, a tiny amount of silicone seal on the screw threads, and a small rubber washer under the head of the screw, if possible. My MAC 2400 has just started not holding more than 60 lbs of pressure, and I need to take it apart pretty soon to get it back in service. If you have any further problems with yours, or if you add a reservoir tank, please post a video on any work that you do. Thanks for making this video and for showing us how to make this repair - it is very useful. As you probably know, Makita is phasing this model out, and critical parts will be getting hard to find, at least in the USA, so the ability to fix these parts will take on more importance. I’d like to get 20 years out of mine, and your tips will help in that effort.

great job on the repair. the coiled copper tube you were referring to is called a Bourdon tube.

Will this cause it not to charge/ fill the tank?
