You really got to appreciate Makita for sticking to their commitment to support and expand the 18-volt platform. When 40 volt came out however long ago, I was betting that commitment would last 2 years or so. But here we are, a company that actually keeps their promises.
@Tools & Stuff. Thanks Tools for the thorough review of these Makita LXT and XGT "Lightsabers". I like how Makita made these lights more versatile than the Dewalt and Milwaukee versions that are designed more as under hood lights. That Makita bracket for holding the light bar to the hood means no sagging when in use. But it also means that I have a long bracket to store separately. I can live with that. Hope you and your family stay safe and well.
May the 4th be with you.... real Jedi's wear socks with sandals. @ 10:27 I don't even see this lamp on the USA website. Would great for my garage and woodshop to add some occasional lighting.
Great video tools. How does it compare to the Milwaukee under bonnet light? I'm glad that they have finally brought this type out. As someone who works in the plumbing industry these will be great for when looking down gully traps to see if there is any blockages
this might will be my first makita light. I thought they released this already all over the world lol. I already have the Milwaukee m12 underhood light, and this would be great for car interior work. Open the driver and the passenger door and clamp it in. Milwaukee has this trueview, so basically the wire colors apear in their real colors. Can you confirm that with this light?
Ryobi, while not quite the same quality has a ~600mm similar light that has all the hooks built into the unit. It also has the feature of being able to be attached to an extension cord when the battery expires. This being set up as an engine bay light is better, but it would probably be cheaper to buy a dedicated one. Lloyd
Interesting tool, however none of the link's seem to take one to this light[saber], I suppose it's still new and it's not on any listing as of yet. Great review, cheers Mate
Id like a retrofit kit for the tower light tbh. Ive got two for work and camping, not keen on dropping a weeks pay on the xgt version if they made a part we could just swap in that would be sweet
I wonder when the DML818 will become regularly available here in Germany. I could get it from some countries around us, but not directly here. On the other hand I am not keen to dish out 300 to 400 Euros for that thing! With that pricing I'll gladly grab my Philips light bar with the hood mount claws, snap off the wall wart and convert it to accept LXT batteries... Even a solution with industrial M8 or M12 connectors to keep the wall wart is easily in the budget. Yes, it doesn't have all the features of the Makita lights, but price performance wise that is acceptable.
Would it be less likely to tip over if it was swiveled 180° to open over the long side of the battery (toe instead of heel)? I'm still here waiting in an XGT tower light. 😒 This looks like it would be handy light though. I also want to binge watch starwars now 🤨
The opening music sound like A Carry On Jedi film 😂 (Carry On Up the Death Star ?) ((In my defence they did release a film called Carry On Up the Khyber))
