For anyone commenting “bad comparison” or “you only used the Makita”. Yes I know, the test didn’t go as planned but it is what it is. I wasn’t playing favorites when using the tools, I just knew (because I have used them a lot in the day to day) that the Milwaukee and Dewalt would’ve snapped adapters with the amount of tension on the higher torque testing. I was mainly curious about what the Makita could do since I really hadn’t used it yet. The conclusion was really that when using these tools in high torque application, they’re too powerful for their own good. All three are great tools, just depends on what battery line you want to invest it. Thanks for watching everyone!

Ok so you used the Makita cuz you haven't used it before? You know for fact that Dewalt would've killed those adapters? Dewalt could barely take off those 130 ft lbs you tightened! The Milwaukee I know would've snapped it for sure, but it looked to me that the B&D(aka) Dewalt wouldn't have stood a chance compared to the Makita impact. So many people underestimate Makita tools until you make a real world comparison. I know your adapters broke and all, which sucks! I also know that it's hard to get your hands on the top of the line ones to make an accurate comparison, but from I witnessed, Dewalt seemed to struggle more on the 130 ft-lb test a tad. You took the Makita upwards of 193 ft-lb and it passed. Only 250 broke the bit an again it was starting to turn. 1/4 impacts aren't meant to take that stress, but it still did it. Dewalt is a fail! Sorry for a bad comment

I'm quite disappointed with this so called comparison. I'm after buying a raft of tools, (driver, impact driver, drill, circular saw etc etc) and unfortunately, the way I see it, is that it comes down to choosing ONE make in order that one can have ONE type of battery to fit ALL of ones tools. That way always having the ability to use ANY of ones batteries on ANY of the tools in ones arsenal. After reading ALL the replies I have to agree with some that the real test would have been to use them to TIGHTEN the nuts til it wouldn't tighten further/break point/battery death. I've learned more from peoples 155 comments, plus LOTS of replies than I have from the "test". My conclusion so far, from comments rather than "test" results, is that DeWalt is out of the picture and it's a contest between Milwaukee and Makita. But still no proven winner. Do I buy Makita and buy new batteries every X months or spend more money on Milwaukee ???
@VinnieVega76
@VinnieVega76 5 лет назад
@@meem1638 I decided to go with the Makita platform. I totally agree that Dewalt isn't even in the same category, talking about I know dewalt could've broken those other ones off easily. It's obvious that the Milwaukee had them both beat in just one test. For sure, we're it my video, but it's not, I would have enough adapters to complete a true comparison, lol even when that one did break, he had it torqued to as high as he could and the nut STILL moved before snapping! Now you saw that Dewalt struggling, not saying it's a bad product line, just the Lexus of B&D, bet the B&D batteries could fit big yellow. I think from this video that both the Makita, and that adapter, took an ass whooping. Strong adapter for +200 ft lbs of breakaway torque What would be cool to see, is that who can break whomever's torque. Have dewalt break Makita's tiggten torque, vice versa. Doubt that either of them could break Milwaukie as fast as that nut broke loose at 130. Just food for thought

Upgraded from an older 18v kit. ru-vid.comUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

I have a bunch of Makita impact drivers and one interesting tidbit is that I still own and use my first one that I bought in 2008. Had a fair share using my friends milwaukees at work. My older dewald combi dropped off a 6 gt ladder, motor broke out the back. I've dropped my makita impact 6 stories onto concrete bouncing off frames... I've also dropped that thing several god damn times & it still runs to this day. My new makita subcompact brushless took a dive off a 4 story roof and still no problem.

Dewalt cant take a hit. Every single one I've seen on any job has broken after about 6 months of average use, tops. I'm talking no fewer then 25 different guns. They will break if they fall from someone's tool pouch. Meanwhile my old reliable makita is 3 years old and more then a few times sustained falls in excess of 50'. It doesn't look or sound the best anymore but I'll be damned if that thing cant take a beating.

In my opinion, the threads of the nut and bolt got loose / stretched due to many and frequent tightening and undoing, that's why it was harder to undo low torques and undo higher torque values quicker. If a new nut and bolt was used for every test, the machines would have maxed out at 190 ish.

Great video. It goes to show that is not all about power, there are many factors to consider and for many it's about what is practical like an existing battery system. Even if the cost is not an issues, who wants the hassle of the BEST tools from different brands. The sad part is the average person being manipulated to think that the is the best. What is best for one person or type of job will vary. The most useful reviews show the tools in use because few people have the time, money, etc to buy 5 different tools and decide for themselves what's best for them

If any of you who owns an impact driver have ever wondered why the companies who build impact drivers do not give us longer warranties, this video, and this man is a prime example. Impact drivers are made to remove and install screws and lags into wood. Impact wrenches are used to remove nuts and bolts in “working class garages.” Using an impact driver to remove nuts and bolts is like using an adjustable wrench to drive nails with . It’s a text book example of the wrong tool for the wrong job. The people who own and build impact drivers know this and that is why we only are allowed at two or three year or very short warranty time on them because people misuse them. If you do mechanical work, use an impact wrench, if you do carpentry or woodworking, use an impact driver.. always remember, professionals use the right tool for the right job.

Using that nut on a split/lock washer will have affected the force needed to UNDO the nut. Should have used a flat washer instead and allowed the nut/bolt cool to same temp for each test. I reckon make a choice and keep on the same battery platform. also, brushed/brushless motors will affect both performance and price.

I like milwaukee.I had used makita for a couple years then switch to milwaukee. Big batterys. 5 years warranty.. Huge selection. My extended transit is full with m18 milwaukee tools .

So, if the milwaukee and dewalt would snap the adapter but the makita removes the bolt without snapping that makes the makita the best for this job right? I mean if you snap the adapter the bolt is still on.

To be honest, I can tell from the way u talk u look down at Makita, u never thought Makita would do that well right? Me personally not a Makita fan but since u are doing a review, at least u should put those three brands objective and fair, to me it seems like u have already rank them subjectively before the test haven't u?

I agree, I didn't feel what he was saying was truly matching what I was observing. I have my doubts that Dewalt would get that nut off at 250psi after seeing it compare side by side with Makita. No doubt that Milwaukee is the champ though when it comes to power and speed.
@StoneDaddy06

I use each one of these almost every day between the dewalt tools at work, my own Milwaukee tools at home and makita when I’m at my dads. The Milwaukee and the makita are definitely superior tools quality wise and power wise over the dewalt.

Fastening torque is not equal to “breakaway” torque. That’s why the tools outperformed the quoted numbers
@VinnieVega76
@VinnieVega76 5 лет назад
I wonder why the breakaway torque isn't listed in the item description? I mean if I have something torqued to to where it requires a 1/2 inch impact, then which one should I be looking to buy? Very misleading....smh See what I mean

Was a good video but to do a more accurate test u need to change washer or have 3 separate set ups cause that washer did not lock anymore after the 1st run of test so test was obsolete after 1st go around the washers have torque ratings as well so make sure when u past that rating throw the washer away its garbage pretty much after that.. thumbs up on content just be better prepared next go around!!👍

You should have used individual adapters for each drill... using only one for all is not really testing them right.... you can't use two other drills and then on the third expect the metal to have the same temper... especially a 3/8" ..1 inch long adapter...

Good review, because I mostly am a Dewalt or Milwaukee guy, I know they are awesome tools. Nice to see other brands impressing me as well. Side note, I use Dewalt at work and hobby time mostly. I find the value to be the best. But don't be a slave to a name. If you have the money get Milwaukee and just get all the tools you will be using, so you can share the same batteries. If Makita is what you can get, stick to them. I'm a contractor and now I feel confident saying all of theae brands make very very decent tools.

I was given a makita drill and 2 battery’s. I already have a ryobi drill and impact gun with 2 batteries and a charger. I’m wanting to invest into one system. I was thinking makita, but I didn’t know it was the most expensive brand. Really wish it wasn’t. Should I stick with ryobi or go for something else? Only tools I’d be using is drill/impact and a 18g Brad nailer. Maybe down the road a skill saw but I already have about 5 corded ones.

Matt Fischer They were designed for the carpenter in mind. Driving screws. Others have repurposed them, so companies have adapted to that. Impact guns are suited for these types of tests. Not an impact driver

I kept watching that ratchet at 4:30 get closer and closer to falling off the bench. Milwaukee is a beast, I am on Ridgid 18v line and a few days ago got my m12 fuel combo in. I have a feeling my Ridgid impact and drill are going to become backups. Theyre brushed gen4 vs the m12 fuel and the m12 is just actually probly faster than my 18v brushes ridgid

Makita has specialize in electric motors since they began. Batteries last much longer than any other, 3 year warranty, the least return rate, weather resistant makita in my most honest opinion is a very well rounded off company. I feel like makita is so underrated. I just bought all battery operated makita tools bought drill set, repri saw, multi tool cutter, side impact driver, the new xlock paddle grinder and a few other ones. Absolutely happy with the products. I also have metabo electric framing gun works great as well. I have a dewalt 18 gauge bead nailer also battery operated. I see a lot of contractors go with one brand only and sometimes is all about status and ego and sometimes is about just having the same batteries so you don’t carry different chargers. In my personal opinion one company is good for some tools and the other for other tools but overall rounded off makita is the top dog in 2021.
