in order for this to be fair you guys need to swap tools after every test.that way error of operator can be excluded as the reason it May not have performed so well
Makita might not be the most power or fastest, but it actually works. It doesn’t smoke. It doesn’t not retain bits. It’s super high quality. It’s compact. It’s the smart play. Probably why that’s what I run.
I think certain errors (stripping screws, snapping hex connectors, and cam out) are important to leave in because they give the tests a more realistic feel. These things happen during real life work and depending on what brand you use, they will occur more or less often. Cam out is almost always caused by two things, a loose and incorrect fit to the screw head and over tourquing. If you looked in the beginning the dewalt has a pretty sizable increase in torque from the makita. The dewalt also cammed out more times then the makita. knowing they generally use the same bits I can safely assume that the bit is a controlled part in the experiment. but where immediate torque is required such as metal self tappers you'll notice the dewalt won. When it came to slow and steady the impacts per minute came into play and the makita took the win do to its greater Ipm rating. Imperfections are where most of the reality of a tool comes into play. I agree human error is in play, but these guys are giving out raw facts. They arent here to give a college grade science experiment. They're here to give us the reality of the situation.
@@tylervanhouden7657 I agree with a part of your story but the tests do not reflect to day to day use. When you are driving multiple screws verry fast after each other the is just a lot of user error. I have the dewalt (and no i'm not a fanboy) because at the time of buying is was just the highest value that i could get for the same money.
Thank you for putting a video out today and doing what you do. During this time of stress and stuck home after work I look forward to the days you guys put out new videos.
I really like this condensed form of TTR, I am actually able to watch this format. I’m surprised the 887 did so well, it really impressed me. Also, whoever’s editing this is doing some great work! It’s nice to see how this channel has progressed. On a side note, I’m trying to decide on an impact driver. It’s between a Gen5x brushless for $80 with a 2ah, and the Makita XDT13 deal for $99 with the 3ah. You guys have any suggestions?
On the 31 tests, all of the spaddle (7) were for Makita. 9 tests were at 3x, in 6 there was an operator error or problems with the tips. Test 19 & 21, the same problem in turn, but for DeWalt it was in the first lag. Test 23 & 24, DeWalt broke the Bit and got off to a bad start without completing the task. Makita's performance is interesting, clear winner despite the aforementioned. Great video, thanks.
I own both drills for more than 2 years now and I prefer the makita hands down the Dewalt is busy losing its will to live aswell saying that the Dewalt is not a bad drill the Makita is just better in my opinion anyway...
I've been watching VCG reviews for the last year and I am still undecided on which drill/driver combo set to purchase. I currently run a dewalt 20v brushless combo. However, I was looking to swith to Milwaukee or Makita. I prefer the Fuel combo, but am hesitant because of the collet issue. What do you guys suggest? I am a Heavy Duty Truck & Trailer/Diesel Technician. So I am drilling & driving through thick steel or aluminum constantly.
The makita is so much more compact. And you cannot beat makita quality they’re the Toyota of tools. They don’t change their lineup with flashy shiny new toys a lot just to get people to buy. DeWALT is overrated
That's my biggest beef with Milwaukee. They may be good, durable tools, I don't know. The presentation style on their annual promo is such a turn off. If you make quality products, why would you need to remake it every year, and have a millennial wearing skinny jeans and a headset mic try to sell it to me through some rigged demonstration? It reminds me of an Apple event where they've gotta convince 20 year olds to buy the new product each year. I try to avoid products with engineered expiration dates, whenever possible.
Dustysa4 I’m still using 15+ year old makita tools with new batteries! No other company can do that. Although I do like Milwaukee just really expensive.
Hey Gang I have a question I just picked up the new Milwaukee Pack out box. Just wondering do you have it? Would be a great review video to see how you would utilize it. I kinda want to use it to store my batteries. If I keep my batteries in my trunk here in FL since its so hot will they get damaged?
hey vinc nice video, I am of your fans from south Africa. I wanted to know what do you think about the bosch angle grinder gws 2200 blue for chasing work and the BOSCH | Rotary Hammer With SDS Plus GBH 2-26 830W Professional. I am an electrical Apprentice and I dont want to wast my money. if you can help it would be great of you Regards Vincent Green
I’ve had em all since the mid 80’s. Makita is best I’ve used. All these different tests are silly. Use same guy on a long screw. Compare the time. Done
My power tools are Dewalt mostly, but also I have Milwaukee, Ryobi, etc. All of them are great and do the job! And maybe because I don't have to race with anyone at the jobsite, they work perfect for my needs. Honestly, I think that this kind of tests are useless and give the wrong idea of the tools. You guys should be testing power, durability, torque, speed, etc, but not like this! This way to do it is wrong and unprofessional! I like this channel, but it is more a reality show than a channel to analyze the tools without preferences.
Im debating on swapping to dewalt from makita. Only because ive got the tough system 2.0 and makita gear looks shit in there. Ive had makita for 5 years with no problems but fancy being a bit “crazy” any reasons for and against would be great, although ive watched enough videos to say otherwise....
Hi Vince and Crew, Hey guys, i just want to get your thoughts on this issue on the DeWalt (DCF 887)over heating. I was looking around the youtube channels and came across two videos from Catus Maximums (sevice and lubricant) and Project Farm (Red tacky vs light weight Grease). Maybe the reason that dewalt 887 over heat is because the grease that they use is a light weight and not enough in the gear. Maybe if they use the Red tacky grease it might help this issue. I know you don't do open tool videos but maybe this might be one vidoe that can be done. Maybe even be proven in one of your videos. If you get a chance look at those two videos. Just a thought. Be Safe and thanks for all the videos.
Could you guys do a 3 tool battle between the Milwaukee, makita, and dewalt impacts that would be a epic battle to see who comes out on top when all put to the test
After owning both of these tools I can tell you that the Makita is far superior for everyday use. Besides Maikita doesn't offer a ridiculously huge 21700 cell battery or cinder block. The DeWalt with a 20v 5 amp hour battery what have been the fair and proper test to make.
lol the Makita got smacked till you had it drilling holes. I'm legit curious cus I don't know, but do you really use an impact to drill instead of a proper drill? I assume if you only had one tool you'd take the impact, so that's fair, but the Makita did fail to win in what the impact is specifically meant for.
I use both. Makita and dewalt and they are very good screwdrivers. To be mega. Power is not always nesecesary I have used dewalt Days and days and they take me a lot work out of me the same whit makita tools
To me, that makita is better than the dewalt, this test is not about what’s the best driver, this is about who got better hand skills with a impact driver, that’s all i see, plus, Durability, Makita beats any brand out there
Dewalt is the best. They will do impact contests but they know better than to break out the drill and everybody knows that dewalt is the best. But it does depend on the person which is hand skills it's not the impact it's the person
@@jessedukelacrosse6470 It's the person. But I want them to break out the new dewalt set it is called the 998 power detector I got my money on it and I want them to break out the drills
These tests were ridicules and don't prove anything! There were a number of times that the DeWalt or Makita operators were responsible for loosing the race, not the tools. The only way to accurately test is by driving multiple fasteners during a set time period and seeing how many were driven, or driving a fixed number of fasteners and timing how long each tool took to complete all of the tasks, then comparing the results.
I have a nice collection of scraped DeWalt drills to remind me to stop buying them. You get what you pay for. Cordless, wired, hammer. Junked them all. Save up get a Makita. Just add the time lost going to get the DeWalt repaired once and it is justified.
That ain't what makes tool the best. I noticed y'all swapped batteries use the 8ah battery and do it again. Dewalt beat Milwaukee with that battery and I know it will beat the makita hell dewalt won on serval drives and y'all said makita won bull crab
It did not overheat this time but you guys keep on covering the vents on the tool... What you expect? Yea the 887 cooling is arguably insufficient, but if you cover the vents it will overheat for sure.
