Great effort into making these reviews for tools. I used Dewalt cordless for over 10 years. No1 speed works best with punching screws into aluminum extrusions to not strip the thread aswell as fixing finish products so the driver dont break screws or round out the head. Brushless is the best thing to happen to cordless tools. My dcf887 type1 has made me alot of money running 20v 4amp bats. Precision and comfort outweighs rare power in my opinion.

I switched over from Dewalt to Milwaukee a couple of years ago because of the power Milwaukee has. Both great and powerful tools ...less than 1 second difference between the two not a big deal. I think weight, size and comfort in the hand is more important. Dewalt I feel is definitely more comfortable and now with the new batteries coming out I think we will continue to see longer run times (and power) which we all know we don't want to be changing batteries all day. I barely use my 20v DeWalt tools and just use my 12 volt. Carrying them and using them make for a easier day. Both companies are great but Milwaukee 12v are just uncomfortable in the hand.

I am not sure in the carpentry world, but in the automotive world, there's something to be said about the design of the nose of the impact. The more the nose resembles a cone, instead of being flat, the more it can reach sometimes without having to use an extension. Flat nosed impacts often need total head clearance to reach a fastener, whereas a cone shape nose can gen in there with its reach often enough.

@@VCGConstruction in theory you can do rpm*hammer weight to get a theoretical performance figure. There's a balance between the two to make a well performing tool. In my experience if you hold a Dewalt very firm it will hit much harder. Milwaukee don't seem to care probably due to a lighter spring behind the hammer. Idk there's a lot that goes into these thing for sure. Would really love to see the new harbor freight brushless impact on here 😉

The control the dewalt had was impressive. No camming out, less stripped screws. Milwaukee seems to be all power. Dewalt seemed to be more precise and accurate when fastening. Examples were the drywall screws. Sure they’re not supposed to go into wood, but look what the Milwaukee did and look what the dewalt did. Precision > speed. Stripped screws are terrible!

Pretty close comparison which would not sway me from one platform to the other. In the future, I think the battery technology will be a big difference in the performance of cordless tools. The motors and speed control will be built around the new battery technology.
@VCGConstruction
@VCGConstruction 2 года назад
In which way do you think they’ll need to make them different to accommodate the new battery technology? The stacked batteries are backwards compatible with all tools and chargers. I’d like to see big improvement but wonder what else can be on the horizon!?!?!
@jimmarcum7362
@jimmarcum7362 2 года назад
@@VCGConstruction Vince, billions of dollars are now being spent improving battery formulation to make them lighter, higher output draw, faster recharge time with the consideration of making them safer. In order to get the full benefits from the new formulation, the speed controller, motors, and chargers will have to be redesigned. I remember my first cordless Skill and Makita drills back in the early 90's that used NiCad packs. Operation of the drill was limited and the motor was weak compared to a corded drill. I think back on how the Panasonic 18650 was a breakthrough in battery technology. The research done on new battery technology is not driven by cordless tools. The early Tesla cars used 18650 batteries in their battery packs, but since then have moved on. The limitations of cordless power tools is still the battery packs. The horizon will be a safer, smaller, lighter battery pack that will put out more power. These battery packs will also recharge much faster. The motor controllers, motors and chargers will have to be redesigned to take full advantage of the battery technology. I don't know if the new batteries will be backwards compatible. Electric vehicles and off the grid solar/battery storage systems are driving the research on battery technology.

But before when I was in the store somebody was buying 2 Mueller mig welders and don't know if it was a mistake or what but each welder rang up for one penny. The guy purchased a few other items like fertilizer even though he paid for the fertilizer he ended up leaving that in the store because one of the employees questioned the price on the welder and the guy wanted to get out of there because he knew that was a score and a half. But this ain't the first time I heard somebody get something for a penny. There's not enough employees to check items so I guess some items are coming up the wrong price. Ttyl brother 🇺🇸👍
