I don't mind higher price if the tool is better. Notice that Home Depot rents Makita cordless tools. They don't rent Milwaukee that's says alot about durability.

I’ve found the XGT stuff shines with the circular saws, especially ripping. Planing and SDS are also better as XGT, however the smaller stuff I keep all as LXT and have no intention of changing I still keep my corded circular saw/recip/sds/multi tool for prolonged use I feel like the 80v stuff is really only made for niche industries, you won’t catch me with a battery concrete breaker that will run out of battery in 10 minutes when I could get a cheaper corded model that will run all day

Ope xgt tools are really crazy yeah. For smaller handheld tools there are still some options that are much better than lxt power wise like grinders, routers, circ saws etc, ao imho the whole line is very well worth it :) And in the Europe prices are much closer to lxt for tools only.

Thanks for the review. I’m just waiting for the deals as well. The pricing is ridiculous, although I would pay $350 for the xgt string trimmer kit. Where did you see that deal?

Amazon has 2 4 amp XGT batteries on sale once in a while For $235 … I have the pole saw and it’s FANTASTIC 😉👍 I I’m only thinking of get a few tools in XGT line like the hand planner string trimmer and maybe the skill saw ….. I recently was looking for a small drill driver for light work and found a deal on The NEW Compact Skil 12V powercore …. Chervon has done a good job listening to people it’s a light weight drill with low cost batteries and even cheaper when on sale …. It’s a GREAT drill for finish work 312 holes drilled on 2 AMP battery . You can find 2 amp batteries on sale for $20 and 4 amp batteries for $39 and it has same warranty as Kobalt tools 5 year tool and 3 year Battery.

I always try to avoid buying tools off of FB marketplace if I think they are stolen. I just try to check out the person selling them and hope it's just someone selling off what they didn't want from a bundle deal.

I went xgt...(not a pro just like having nice stuff) with the exception of the 1st combo kit almost everything else I got was part of a sale or a buy 1-2 tools/kits get a free battery. I find that for most tools the XGT isn't that much more than the LXT(x2) equivalent, and in the cases where it is, is a significant improvement. What's nuts is that the prices in CAD are about the same ar the prices in USD (even though 1CAD is like .75USD)

i noticed the CAD to USA price similarities when I was looking at ordering one of the 40v chainsaws recently.

Alot of xgt tools that are resold brand new for a really good price are usaully returns or homedepot has to liquidate older dated tools and move them out for newer dated items. They cant have a 40v chainsaw made in 2022 still sitting on the shelf in 2023 they will move the 2023 made chainsaws on the shelves and move the old ones out.. Resellers then buy tool bulk pallets from warehouses. Ive been to these places. And the majority of the time this is the situation.

My HD right now has all XGT in store on clearance, I got a good deal on the string trimmer kit. XGT is awesome, but priced over the what it should be.

@UltimateToolReviews yea i never paid full price for any of my xgt tools. As i prefer not to. I just wait for the best price to hit my screen even if i wait a year for it. Or find a auction very few people know about and jump on it. I sold my 36b 10' miter saw for 500 just to get the 40v version for 700$. I sold my 18v blower for 100 dollars and i found someone selling the 40v blower kit on facebook for 100$. I recommend people to look around it you can wait to find the best deal. I bought the 40v commercial lawnmower for 170$ from some guy on facebook also. Im paying ryobi prices to pretty much make the switch. As I never actually planned to switch over. I bought the 40v stick vacuum for 80$ its amazing. That thing was way overpriced too.

I was invested in the Makita LXT system, and then they introduced XGT. I feel like a kick in the nuts for their customer. Instead of doing what Milwaukee or Dewalt did by introducing higher-quality batteries. Anyway, I went with Milwaukee and sold most of my Makita. Those XGT look ridiculously big for a 2.5amp on those compact-looking tools. There's no point in using a compact tool if the batteries weigh more than them. I'm using Milwaukee Hight Output 3.0 on my impact and it's so much lighter to use, I'm also invested in all their higher amp batteries for tools that require more power. If Makita just focused on their LXT customer instead of kicking them to the side and only focused on XGT now, I would've stayed with them for life. Their LXT tools are great but batteries are very outdated and LXT is a rarity nowadays that it costs more than most Milwaukee tools.

It's about lowering the temp of the took and extending the work life of the took. Heat causes failure. High voltage means lower draw and heat. When you go to replace your 18 volt Milwaukee because it got smoked out, remember this post.

I find it disappointing how they launch the XGT line. I think Metabo HPT/Hikoki implemented it better by doing a backwards compatible battery platform. I am a big Makita fan and yet have purchased any XGT 40V tools.

XGT is actually 36v nominal (40v max) so they could have easily made a multivoltage system like other brands. They may have bet on the wrong battery system with other brands now removing their 36v lineup and newer tech like pouch cells requiring a lot of cells to get to 36v. The most frustrating thing is they don't want to update the battery tech on the LXT system.

Separating the lines was a better option
@justAnotherMike82
@justAnotherMike82 Год назад
adding backward compatibility can result in compromises. The LXT had limitations on the form factor(size) of the batteries so that they would fit in an 18x2 tool. if a flex/multivolt setup was adopted by makita it would be even more frustrating as some batteries might not be able to fit in some tools.
@riba2233

@@justAnotherMike82 also mounts are too weak on lxt tools to accept heavier xgt packs
