Not even a question. I remember a point where Maks was feeling anxious because he didn't want to fail Meryl. When has a pro ever felt like they were going to fail their partner?
They were one of the best couples. Here are ten of my favorite first place couples: 1. Jordan & Lindsay - Season 25 2. Bindi & Derek - Season 21 3. Laurie & Val - Season 23 4. Meryl & Maks - Season 18 5. Apolo & Julianne - Season 4 6. Nicole & Derek - Season 10 7. Rumer & Val - Season 20 8. Adam & Jenna - Season 26 9. Alfonso & Witney - Season 19 10. Melissa & Tony - Season 15
Just noticed something which was so solicitous. When the cast of DWTS raised Meryl on their shoulders to congratulate her and Max on winning the Mirror Ball, she seemed a little anxious and insecure. The next thing I saw was Charlie holding her up under her arm. It's part of a move they sometimes use when then ice dance. She took a quick glance at Charlie, recognized who it was holding her steady, and then, obviously, relaxed, her anxiety allayed. Meryl had mentioned in an interview that she had complete confidence in Charlie, as he was always so meticulous about her safety when they were doing dangerous lifts, at warp speed, during their performances. It was actually inspiring to see just how the two of them trust each other so absolutely.
They were like a drug. I had some Maks and Meryl withdrawals after that season. 😭❤️❤️ They were the best. Even almost ten years later I find myself watching them.
Derek is SUCH a class act. He’s won 6 times, rightfully so, and you can tell he wanted it for Amy. But Maks had been doing the show for so long and Derek was SO happy for him! And Meryl and Maks are probably my favorite couple ever. LOVE them!!!
I don't think Amy was really disappointed. She said in her book that she knew Meryl would win, and she was happy to be in the final two with her. Amy and Meryl are still friends, too.
@@lynnem5792from the looking at her and Derek it seems they wanted Meryl and Maks to win but could be wrong since it’s a split screen and they keep looking up
Aw, Tony and Val were so excited when Maks won. Rumer was great, but Meryl's still my favorite winner. Maks and Meryl had such amazing chemistry that I just didn't see with Rumer and Val.
To be fair, Team Valenrue certainly had natural chemistry unlike his previous partners and other "showmance" couples, which only happens if your lucky and further proves to make all the difference. That said, I doubt any future pair will have what Meryl and Maks had because those two were like Meryl's dancing: in a damn league of their own.
In my opinion, Meryl liked and cared about Maks, while Maks loved her because she is caring and selfless. He opened up to her. Also he rubbed off on her in a good way.
I remember that night so vividly, I was so happy for Maks because he really deserved the Mirror Ball but like he said it wasn't supposed to happen until that night!
I have always said that the reason why the win did not happen before is not only because Maksim needed Meryl but because he was not ready for Meryl. He needed Laila Ali (who taught him that he was not the be and end all), Kirsti Allie (who taught him lighten up) - they, and his other previous partners were there to teach him patience, humility, and vulnerability first. By the time Meryl became his partner, Max could both face his demons and express them to Meryl's willing ear and to that of his friends and family.
Gloria Fisher - Spot on. Remember, getting close to the final, Maks was scared to disappoint Meryl? That was as vulnerable as we had ever seen Maks. Coincidentally, I stopped watching after this season. No reason to watch after my dude won.
They really were perfection. Nothing makes me happier than watching them dance. So elegant, restrained or joyous -- that Argentine tango was a masterpiece.
I absolutely loved watching Meryl and Max dance - almost as much as when I watch Meryl and Charlie as they ice dance. They exude an intensity and love that make you believe that they are not only professional couples but romantic couples as well. But it is not to be. Charlie is married to ice dancer, Tanith Belbin, Meryl is engaged to her ice dancing coach's son, and Max recently proposed to another DWTS dancer. The magic that all these dancers bring to the ice rink and the dance floor is addictive. Their talented performances are so ardent, tender and passionate, that they subtly bring you into their fantasy world. Their teasing is done exquisitely, but it is frustrating, nonetheless. Sometimes you just feel like shouting to Charlie and Max - "Kiss Her" for crying out loud!!
tugboat it goes three ways when Tony won Maks and Val were jumping and yelling like they won. Then when Maks won as u said Val and Tony like they won then same for Val winning. That’s blood brothers even if Tony’s not biologically their brother but is considered and loved like blood brothers. Derek and Mark not as close of a bond with my 3 musketeers but I believe that Derek was genuinely happy that Maks won.
About bloody time. There were other occasions where he should’ve won, and you could see that there was a lot of favoritism among the judges. Max and Meryl deserved this 1000 times over.
I wish I could see Maks compete one last time he deserved to be a judge But man I miss these finales now everything is so rushed and you don’t get to enjoy the moment no one talks to the winner it’s like ok you won the end
Carly Walls yes that’s exactly what I noticed too. My mom said he was trying to pull her from the back to put her up on his shoulders but I agree with u more “ can’t have her she’s mines” lol which is cute. U know all those hours rehearsing together from 7 yrs old and competing he has to have feelings for her. It usually happens one or both fall in love but don’t say anything or for the sake of staying partners the don’t want to take the chance of losing all if it doesn’t workout.
I didn't see it that way. Maks was hugging her, when Tony & Val were behind Maks already getting ready to pick him up! Charlie was probably trying to make sure she was safe and not pulled over since Maks and Merly couldn't see that lift coming! Sweet how their friends were all pulling for them!
Season 18 marked a season of changes for 💃🏻 With The ⭐️: longtime musical director Harold Wheeler (known for arranging Meco’s 💃🏻 version of John Williams’ “Star Wars Theme”) and co-host Brooke Burke (Season 7 Champion and co-host from Seasons 10-17) were gone, and in came sports reporter Erin Andrews (who previously appeared on the show during its 10th season, survived a peeping tom scandal and a battle with ♋️ and is also a reporter for 🦊 🥎, and whose younger sister Kendra is a 🕺 and actress) as co-host and one-time SNL band member Ray Chew as bandleader.
