Likely a BOOM for Malaysia! 😁Though they must be cautious about its dependence on China.. as the video calls out, ECRL can help the country close the gap on regional disparities etc but it must be careful not to end up like Sri Lanka Hambantota Port.. only time will tell..
ECRL is not high speed rail. It is semi hsr. It requires this to develope east coast and send goods from port klang to kuantan port bypassing singapore. In the long run, it will benefit the population, trade and tourism. The HSR from kl to singapore is another story. It is privately funded. To be viable, the ticket price must not exceed low cost carriers between changi and klia.
This channel needs to do more research on this BRI debt trap because no country that is part of BRI experienced the debt trap. The IMF, World Bank and McKinsey have said that all BRI countries benefited from the initiative. Sri Lanka's debt issues was not caused by China but by Western institutions and investors and the Forest City failure was due to corruption from the Malaysian government and its politics.

Prof Jomo has said this line will not even make an operating profit. Taxpayers will foot the full RM65 billion. Pax are getting nice subsidy from taxpayers. We need this kind of project to help our countrymen in Trengganu and Kelantan. Bravo. They have built an HSR to the east coast to cut down travel time. ECRL is pathetic
Very misleading title.please do more research on what is debt trap.also check how is word debt trap came about and which country coined these words.please have some respect for governments involved with capital funding with China help.these countries are not stupid.
