The new MM2H program is really a money grab for this country, just do some research on the past previous years of the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and you would see how much it has deprecated. At its peak against the USD, it was about 3.06 MYR to 1 USD. Now..its floating around 4.72 to 4.73 MYR to the USD with the possibility to go lower against the USD and other foreign currencies ( I meant that the currency is valued less now against the USD). I feel this is a way (from my option) to try to shore up their USD and foreign currency reserves as the country has been bleeding foreign currency to try to prop up the MYR. As long as this country has the policy of favoring the ethnic "Malays" over the other ethnic groups within this country, there is no way that this country will really prosper like Singapore. Note this, I am a US born US citizen married to a Chinese Malaysian citizen and I see it first hand on how this country "handles" things like this. And if you place any amount of "foreign" currency converted into MYR you are almost "guarantee" to lose what you placed in, I should know, I had over 100K USD (at the conversation rate of 3.15 MYR to the 1 USD) transferred over almost 10 years ago to "try" to purchase a home here and ended up not doing it and decided to leave it in the bank. Now based on the current rate, I am just sitting on after current conversion rates, about 67,000 USD, a lost of over 33K USD just having my money sitting here in a Malaysian bank. Again, one should look over the possible financial loss with this new MM2H program as it could "bite you in the butt" with the possible continuation of the depreciation of the MYR.

Just making people aware that if you do place a fixed deposit for the MM2H in a Malaysian bank which you can not use for a certain amount of time there are chances that you will loose money in case the MYR currency drops. Yes, we received a couple of comments about that part missing in our previous visa video. And after checking it out more we realised how essential it actually is!
Constant and fast changing of requirements by the authorities makes the program questionable and untrustworthy. Nobody,especially foreigners and retirees, like uncertainity and quick changes. There are many nations in SE asia which have comparable or better programs .Thatswhy even now (after 18 years)less then 50,000 foreigners call Malaysia home. Only plus point is widespread use of English here
Hi, visa's is always the most stressful detail when moving and living abroad. Especially if you are not on a working visa or something similar. You are in the mercy of the changes, the good and the bad changes.... But that is part of the deal when moving to an other country, I guess. At the end we think that you are lucky if you can choose which country you can live in. You are kind of in a privileged position to seek a better quality of life. And like you said, if you don't mind living somewhere else then Malaysia, then there are other choices as well when it come to better retirement visa's. Which we plan to dive into soon! @@TravAlligator Philippines,Indonesia,Cambodia. all 3 less strict visa requirements for long stays.Later 2 also give citizenships.Not to mention all 3 lgbtq and women friendly and no sharia laws.Crime is same everywhere just have to becareful. Development wise a little behind but catchingup

The information is clear in this video. My question is about the Monthly Income required for Sarawak-MM2H, for Retirement Visa: We have no problem for the amount of it, but there can be many kinds of Income, which ones are acceptable? We are sure that an Income from Old Age Pension is acceptable, but what happens if we are short in that but can provide an Interest Income from a Bank? Thank you in advance.
Hi thank you for watching our video and leaving a comment. We can imagine that when you apply for the SMM2H your current income will be reviewed. Once that is approved and you have your visa we can't imagine you have to show your income once again over the years. However that said, for the Sabah MM2H all sorts of income such as pension, rental income, or salary is acceptable. This might be the case for the Sarawak MM2H too. The point is that you can prove that you have a steady monthly income (probably for a certain period already) when doing the application. In the end, you will need an MM2H agent to assist you in the application, so they will provide you with more specific information. Hope we have given some clarity. Cheers, Matt and Monico

I think that this video is premature because neither the Federal MM2H or Sabah MM2H have posted their rules. They just give out parts of the programs, and point out that they are simply proposals. It's all hype. The same thing happened in the months before they first issued the 2022 "improved" MM2H. They were talking only about it having longer periods, allowing people at the top level to work and invest, and being eligible to get PR. They only came out with the more negative aspects later, but continued revisions for 6 months. Sabah has been talking about their Sarawak-like program for about two years (previously it was 'pegged to MM2H). It sounds like it will be very similar to the S-MM2H but may some of the rumours have suggested that it may have a mandatory property purchase or condo rental requirement. That might turn many people off.

Let's say you want the MM2H visa and want to stay in KL for a couple of years. How does the offshore income work if you are in your thirties and working 9-5 jobs? How can you show an income if you want to move to Malaysia? Doesn't that mean you have to show a passive income type of income unless you are actually retired and receiving pension?
Hi thanks for watching our video and your question. Since the changes of the MM2H requirements in dec 2023, it is still unclear if applicants are allowed to earn an income through remote working. We haven't found clear cut information yet. We can imagine that it would be a passive income type (perhaps online, or rental income) but then again, you should expect that remote working would be acceptable as well. As long as you are not earning an income though activities in Malaysia. Because then you have to have a work permit. If you want to know the details now, perhaps the authorised visa agents in Malaysia can help you further. Good luck! Monico

@@makethemove101 they require you purchase a condo/house so I personally think that proof of wealth on an investment account should be enough. In KL there are many condo projects left and right. I did the math and purchasing is not the best for your money. So that alone is already a negative for your money. Cheers
Are you absolutely sure there is no minimum income requirement? The agents are all saying that the release of information was just a teaser and isn't the full picture. When the full details are released, then we will know what income requirements there are, if any. It may be too soon to say there aren't any income requirements just yet.

Many people are surprised that the min. income requirement is missing in the newly launched MM2H program and it is expected that it will be included again. You would think it is an essential part for the application. But until now it is not the case yet. But like we said the 'relaunch' of the MM2H is still on trial basis and there can be many changes on its way. It seems that the biggest focus now is on the fixed deposit (3 options) and the fact that you can only use it after 1 year within Malaysia. Eventually the whole point of this program is to attract foreigners who will spend (invest) in Malaysia. Plus Malaysia has to 'compete' with other nearby countries that offer similar type of visa's. So the MM2H has to remain attractive. Let's hope things will become more clear soon. We can imagine that missing details can make the whole application process very confusing and uncertain. The absence of a basic income level is puzzling. Especially if the goal is to get people to spend into the economy...after all what if a person comes, places 5 million into the Platinum Fixed Deposit, but you have no sustaining income. Does that actually bring income into Malaysia? That person may be living off less than $500 month and even use the visa as a means to get a job! Plus bring their parents and children in as dependents? Surely that can't be the actual rules?
@@gerrelldrawhorn8975 I think you can't work in Malaysia with these programs because you would need a work permit if you are going to work in Malaysia which is totally a different process. Also they are putting your fixed deposit money into work and even though you don't have a monthly income, they still have your money that are making them more money.

I'm in the 30-40yrs age group. Can i get S-MM2H but my kids enroll (with mother as parent on "school" visa) in peninsular Malaysia? We dont really want to live in Sarawak or get kids enrolled in school in Sarawak
Hi! If you wish to live in the peninsular of Malaysia then the only option is to go for the MM2H especially if you want to enrol your children into a school there. From what we understand, you can't use the SMM2H to live in the peninsular, especially if you have children that need to go to school.

Unfortunately, the alternative guardian visa doesn't work for east Malaysia as it covers only one parent (and I would never attempt visa runs as the other parent due to risk). Looks like we may have to consider Kuching for residence or cough up the money for silver pack
Hi we got the mm2h visa in 2019 children under 21 were included in the prograem but I heard there are changes now that until they are 35 are included, may I pls know details?
Hi! We also read something about children who are between 21-35 years. They are allowed to be included in the MM2H of the main applicant but they are must be unmarried and are not allowed to work in Malaysia. Again, we can not guarantee that this will not be changed. Even children under 21/parents only receive a year-to-year visa. Again, the rumors of changes may only be for the highest end program...or be for special categories (e.g. those who can demonstrate disability or treatment under a Malaysian physician or clinic). Otherwise why state the "unmarried until 21).
For platinum, when can i withdraw or use the remaining 50% of fixed deposit that is required to be in the bank account? Is that stuck forever with the malaysia bank? Will i get it back if i revoke my permanent residency?

In the case of the silver and gold, you will get the remaining 50% only after you terminate or decide not to renew your MM2H visa. To be honest we didn't find any information when it comes to permanent residency. You should contact an authorized visa agent, they might know. What is the source for the above numbers? Are these applications or visa issued. In Sarawak - China has emerged as #1 followed by UK, then S.Korea, US/Canada, Japan, Taiwan, HongKong, Singapore, combined Europe, Australia/NZ. I think that Chinese still.make up the plurality of applications in the Federal program? Where are they in your data?
All too complicated! A country could just state a minimum monthly income that can be demonstrated or a minimum bank deposit as an investment in Maylasian property. For this, I want a permanent residency VISA and freedom from taxation by the national Maylasian government for a period long enough to obtain citizenship. My country, the USA, would tax me wherever I lived. I must renounce USA citizenship to avoid taxation by USA. To do this, I first must obtain Maylasian citizenship. I have no dependents and am over 65 years old and in good health. If this is now possible, I would give it serious consideration; visit Maylaysia and provide documentation.
