@@DanielMurreywell not everyone wants to be a useless tool that manages his crypto made of peoples losses. Make yourself useful instead of depending on people's losses and hoping people make losses so you can make profits. And no I'm not a boomer, I'm a 32y old landlord with 3 apartments bought without any bank loans. Hard earned cash money. And now I get 3000$ each month hassle free and without any risk. Plus I own all of the apartments, that's a worth of 450.000$. And yes I have traded crypto and other stocks when I was young. It's a cancer and usually for people who don't wanna work or be useful to the world and their communities. Grow up
The continuous delays and changes in the MM2H program signals that either something is very wrong with the administration or they simply do not want to attract foreigners to live in Malaysia. It cannot be that hard to create a sensible program and process to manage it, as evidenced by the many other countries in Asia that have programs. It is such a shame because Malaysia is a wonderful country that has always been an attractive place to retire. I wish I had done so in 2017 when I had the chance.
I'm 35, I've been applying the "FIRE" strategy for the last few years, I'd be happy to "retire" now in Malaysia, living off my passive income whilst doing things I like and travel in the region
Thanks for the info. I guess the handwriting is on the wall. Malaysia essentially doesn't want/need the lower-wealth retiree anymore. Its a real shame. It is a great place. Unfortunately, a retiree can't tolerate the level of uncertainty that this current situation presents. Time to consider other places.
I read somehere about the press conference was hurriedly put together for the tourism minister to then visit China, with a grand fanfare? It does make sense now if he did it off his own back and not got sign off.
A residence permit for Singaporean to reside in Johor subject to certain conditions (invest in Iskandar) would be lovely! Long shot thou. MM2H already dragging so long. 😵💫
A shame that, after proving much more competent than many governments in handling covid (UK politician clowns take note!) Malaysia sees chaos on this issue. General opinion at the time was that the announcement was premature and the plan ill defined. It seems like such a simple matter to address - but the crazy changes post covid show there's a dramatic lack of communication and foresight on the matter. I suspect there is still serious disagreement in Putrajaya with the parties concerned with bun-fights ongoing. IMHO PR will never be a reality with MM2H - I suggest the RM5Mill is kept for spending :)!
We also on old MM2H and had Visa transfer from old passport to new in December 2022 and was no issue. Not sure about the situation now but our agent informed us that old MM2H Holders will continue under the previous conditions. But it is uncertain and volatile so suppose it can change as well. Just hope it gets resolved soon as it does make you think about the future and how stable that will be for MM2H holders in general.
