I am amazed by your confidence in creating a curry dish using ingredients associated with rendang, including your improvisation of the 'kerisik' the golden brown fried desiccated coconut as your garnish. I am going to try the same as I think it's a unique blend of spices that gives an explosion of taste. Kudos to you for a rendang inspired curry.
That's a good looking curry. I know cos I'm Malaysian. Adding egg plant as an alternative to potatoes is ingenious. You could add some sliced (julienne) green chillis to spike up the flavour.
It is like that everywhere. If you go to a Indian restaurant in Britain, it's gonna be adapted to the BIR standards. If you go to a chinese places in the west , the food will most likely be "american chinese" etc etc. And often times they also adjust spice levels to match local peoples tolerance for heat. For close to authentic food, the best is to visit hidden gems where natives of a particular cuisine go. Go where indians mostly go for indian food, go where thais go for thai food etc etc etc..
well mamak noodles or famously known mee mamak also a creative touch from indian style on chinese staples with noodle, tofu, bean sprout and also local fritters.. so whatcha u gotta say bout that huhh??
yeah. poor thing. curry is curry. Rendang is rendang. This is not about improvising. This is about people out there got a wrong idea about curry and rendang. god...
Love the curry vessel. What kind of metal it is? I have an induction cooktop. What kindof dish should I use? The bottom sticks to the curry nowadays. P.S. amazing knife skills. Rarely see some say chiffonade. Love your episodes!!
That dish is looking great and must taste great also, but I have never eaten it before or any meal like it. I spent two years in Thailand and ate plenty of food there and loved it so much though. I also spent plenty of time in the Philippines, Japan, and South Korea and ate several dishes there, and there was one Philippines had one dish which was similar to the one you cooked.
cute improvisation but the end background music is chinese while this is definitely a malay cuisine doesn't match in all possible wayyss. maybe because this vid was from 2016.
ini versi dia..dia modify ikut citarasa n cara dia masak..jgn la close-minded sgt..we should be proud instead sbb masakan kita sampai kt sana..kita pn bnyk masakan western yg diubah supaya sesuai dgn lidah melayu..so biarlah rendang banyak variasi supaya senang budaya kita sampai ke org lain..😀
Kan die ckp die letak terung sbb die nk ikut citarasa die tp still rasa adalah cara Malaysia. Nsb die x sebut sngapore atau negara kuat claimed yg satu lg tu.
Nurazian Mahmud i think shes going for rendang recipe but use the term "curry" because they could not translate the term rendang in english..mcm sambal juga..kalau ikut kita sambal dan sos adalah 2 masakan berbeza..but in english sambal fall into the category of sauce because its easier to convey to people..
Nurazian Mahmud but you can always change recipe to suit your taste..we malaysian often modify western dish to suit our taste too..those rendang will be served to her people so its going to suit their cooking style where vegies are often involved..its a good thing to see different variation of rendang actually..we should be proud instead that our national dish are more known now
