Outstanding video ! Thanks so much for taking the immense amount of time it must take to : first, work this all out from the book and secondly to execute the visuals and edit. A gift to the community! Thanks
Amazing video. Love the detail. I read the Sekala Crossing battle and then watched your video. Made so much sense after that. It's the same for this video as well. Koodos. Appreciate the hardwork. Sorry to be nitpicky, but I think you missed the Hissari Loyals and the Seventh's Cavalry forming the tail of Coltaine's spear. Although, they weren't mentioned much in Duiker's description of the battle, but Captain Lull had mentioned them in his troop placement overview to Duiker.
Really glad you liked the video! Ooooh, yeah I probably missed that. I thought the description you mentioned is from the Chain traveling between Sekala and Gelor (Just an earlier chapter) and thought the battle lineup was different. Completely neglected to mention them! Thanks for pointing it out :)
Sweet, I just finished DHG a couple days ago so this is great timing for me 🤣 this battle was incredible, the entire Chain of Dogs story so heartbreaking.
I'm just at the Vathar crossing right now, but I've never wanted someone to die as much as I want Nethpara to die, such a fucking snake! Nobody spoil it for me, but I really want Coltaine to survive cause he's such a bad ass, it's just so obvious he won't
It's great. I'd also like to give a huge nod to the Siege of Capustan and the Taking of the Seer's Keep in Memories of Ice and the Battle of the Spire in The Crippled God. It also isn't a complicated layout but also the Defense of the Shore in the CG.
Thanks so much for making this!! Its spectacular. Cant wait to reread deadhouse gates and see your vidoes, will help me visualize the battles so much better! Your content is superb.
Good examples. I believe Ceasar also had various battles where he was severely outnumbered. Besides, the malazans have sappers... When both sites have guns though the numbers come together as less skill is required for one person to kill the other. Only since the second world war there has been a modest shift based on speed, intel and weaponry (and probably also tactics). Well, at least that's how I see it.
@@meris8486 I have a video or two planned before the next battle, but I'll be doing Vathar for the next battle video. Going in order :) But I learned a bunch of things from making this vid and will be applying it to the next one which should improve it quite a bit
Absolutley loved the video thank you very much. I am really looking forward to my first reread having your videos and hopefully a few more. You are doing such a great job to the lore of Malazan and I hope that master himself sees and enjoys it.
A very nice entry in the Malazan battles series. I was just thinking that Coltaine has some Hannibal vibes, awfully overextended and outnumbered, but winning again and again, and then you brought up Cannae 😁
Just saw you in Ruthan Badd's video. Great video. You lived up to your hype. I know it's too much to ask but can you keep doing one for all the battles in every malazan book. At your own pace ofcourse. Don't burnout.
Great video! I was sad that I missed it three weeks ago so I made sure to subscribe and smack the bell this time lol. At the end of the video u asked for some feedback so here is mine: 1. Loved the comparisons to real battles at the end, that honestly was one of the most interesting parts of the video 2. The animation was even better this time than the last video, great job with all of the troop movements all lining up perfectly. 3. Only suggestion I guess I have is I was wondering if you could discuss some of the main players in each side before the battle, just to remind older book readers who haven’t read it in a while, ex: Kamist Reloe was a mage…etc., and opposing him is (list generals on Malazan/wickans side) Overall loved it! Keep it up man, and merry Christmas if u celebrate!
