People have been eating insects and their eggs and larvae for thousands of years. But with the world's population rising, and an estimated 10 billion mouths to feed by 2050, there's a renewed interest in insects as an eco-friendly source of protein and in farming them for food....including right here in New Zealand.
Malcolm Diack is a locust farmer and breeds what he calls "sky prawns" in that epicentre of entomophagy, Dunedin.
