@@SovereignStatesmanthe native Britons had majority blue eyes and so did the Anglo-Saxons (English). It doesn't have to be Scandinavian just to be blue eyed. Their genetic input into Britain is quite low anyway, the Normans even less so - who after numerous generations, were more or less French. I've known blue eyed Spaniards and Italians.

Fantastic actor! He deserved the Oscar for best actor for his mesmerizing portrayal of Alex in a Clockwork Orange, shame he did not get it! He owned that roll and played it with great relish and scary charm!

He strikes me as a guy who doesn't give a shit about accolades and trophies. He likes to do work that intrigues him or unashamedly pays the rent. He's versitile but he has this raptor like predatory cadence that lends himself well to villains like David Warner or Charles dance. He could play the father of a female fiance in a Romantic comedy where he appears terrifying but is actually a nice guy but the boyfriend is terrified off him

+Tom Evans imagine telling a story over and over again in every interview. Eventually it's going to be like reciting a poem or film script itself, you barely need to think about it and maybe the memory is even somewhat different from the reality by now, it's been embellished upon so often you begin to believe the little things you read into the situation or wished to be there. Now imagine being asked about another mundane part of it that you haven't thought about in decades. That would probably about sum up why.
@SovereignStatesman

Sir John Hammond I guess it's like Luke Skywalker in reverse. He gets so famous playing an evil character that he never gets hired as anything else, but just has Geeks asking him about making that one film... for 40 freaking years.

@sekunderkun
@sekunderkun 9 лет назад
+Laurence Herring Eyes Wide Shut is a goddamn underrated masterpiece, in my humble estimation. The real issue is that most people don't understand that the film is very openly and textually about class and very specifically the intersection of classism and sexuality in America. Maybe they'd still hate if they understood that - if there are two things Americans love to self-deny about their own society and culture, it's classism and sexuality (speaking as an American, and Eyes Wide Shut being a uniquely American film).

Birdman Of course, he was just a young actor and very devout Christian, he prayed to God to show him how to play a completely evil character; and he did it so well that nobody wanted to hire him for anything but villains after that. Look at the original interviews with him just after the movie, and he's just a shy British kid. That's why he seems angry now, since it's the only role he's really known for.

Arenzoj A sequel doesn't really make sense. What would happen? I mean we know that Alex supposedly reverted back to a murderer rapist by the ending (spoilers). But like, what would happen in the movie? He gets reformed AGAIN he gets tortured by people AGAIN. I dunno. Plus, I feel like it would dishonor Kubrick who is one of my FAVORITE filmmakers EVER. Like, making a Fullmetal Jacket 2 or a Shining 2. Hell they already made 2010 a space odyssey and we all know how THAT turned out.

If they did make a sequel, it would probably be based on the last chapter of the novel. It's where Alex continue's his life of crime, and when he sees that Pete has now reformed and married, Alex is taking less pleasures in Ultra Violence, so, he decides to get married and leave his past behind him.

I am an American and he certainly doesn't sound American to me. Perhaps all the years of living, working, and traveling abroad with all sorts of people, with all sorts of accents may have had an impact on the strength of his original 'British' accent. So perhaps it's not as strong as it once was. But I'd presume that would happen to anyone from wherever they come under the same circumstances. But to be honest I've personally never noticed and I know the British and all their different regional accents very well. But on another note... what a brilliant man/actor Mr. Malcolm McDowell is. : ) He is in my opinion an extremely underrated actor an I hope one day soon will get the recognition he deserves.

It's good he put up some resistance because Kubrick might have hurt him worse if he let him but the lid locks gave him a fast pass to notoriety; recognized as a professional, serious actor.

Considering Kubrick's reputation for numerous takes in order to get the right shot, I wonder how many times McDowell endured having his face spat upon for that one scene when in the hands of the cops.

Malcolm McDowell has some great commentary on the Blue Thunder DVD. Malcolm is terrified of heights but apparently, his agent had BS'd him into thinking that they could use a stand-in for all the flying sequences. As it turned out, he really needed to be in the helicopter (and in the air) for all of the aerial stuff. If he looks a little "intense" in some of the close-ups, that's actually sheer terror. Good on him for keeping his composure and sticking with it. :)

In my case a girl had hummed a Jelly Bean shoe at a guy she was pissed off at. He ducked and it caught me in the eye instead.

He reminds me so much of John hurt. The two have that smokey voice, but both have that northern down to earth charm. I would have liked to see them together. Perhaps I missed it

A Clockwork Orange is my favorite movie with Malcolm McDowell other than his role as one of my favorite authors, H.G. Wells in Time After Time. Also A Clockwork Orange is my favorite Stanley Kubrick film!
