I loved this deck breakdown and I enjoy seeing people lean into the Malcolm end of Tymna//Malcolm as I think he’s the true engine of these decks and I’m glad I’m not alone in my opinion. Plus, I see pirates I click like!
Great video Mons, really enjoyed it. I can tell you that this deck is indeed very consistent as I own it, however I have the Non Doomsday version and I have a 40%-50% win rate. I think that Esper is underrated and it deserves more respect.
Very very minor correction about the Emergence Zone cleanup step thing, everything technically happens still in the first cleanup step (all in the third part of the first cleanup step, where triggered abilities are put onto the stack and players receive priority). Clarifying this in case someone tries to rules lawyer you saying that if you declare that you're entering the second cleanup step, that means that the window has passed.
I'm trying to understand where the combo is with lions eye diamond? I play tested and got malc and tymna out turn 1 and 2. Then played ad naus 3 or 4. Drawed the deck out played dark ritual. Then won with lab man and dark consultation naming ad naus because it was in graveyard game over.
Not really. Kinda slow. And not the best grind. Well both cards are good. Or well Varragoth is decent Oppo is good. It is something you can have in the deck. But it is more something you draw into then tryingh to achive. You get it if you get it.
In the tymna / sakashima lists I've seen, Sakashima is usually used to double up a hatebearer more often than to double tymna. I've heard people say that an evasive commander paired with tymna is more reliable than 2 tymnas because it increases the chances of being able to get through for damage
Having access to both Ramp and Card draw is the main appeal of this deck. It is significantly more resiliant than Tymna Sakashima because of the evasion Malcolm provides. Having access to 2 different powerful effects in the command zone is more appealing that doubling down on Tymna, where you can be put into a tough spot if everyone has blockers.
I think Sevinne's Reclamation and Intuition could be included to this deck since sevinne's reclamation provides recursives for permanent, but wdyt about Intuition?
That sounds like a good card to get back things like Necro. But they don't play underworld breach. Well Sevinne's Reclamation is a great card in generall soo.
