Gorillas have a gland there that tells other gorillas if they are sick or healthy. So it's a natural thing. All gorillas will 'dab' that area and sniff it when they initially meet a gorilla, or to check on their babies or siblings health, etc, again to see if they are healthy to be around.... also if they are in heat, but 99% of this kinda interaction is simply about health. In this case they are goofing around. at 0:50 I think Shabani is wondering if something is wrong with Kiyo. Nene too. As they both are looking at him wondering why he wants Annie to look at his butt so bad. Usually if a gorilla is in another gorillas face with a body part, it's because they are asking that gorilla to check it for them. Whether its for their butt, or their arm, or their back. Often somewhere they can't see or get to. Seems he may be asking Annie to look at the right side of his butt (yes I know this sounds funny but still). Partly goofing around, but may actually be asking to groom him as he may have been bitten or feels pain there or something. Notice he is covering the 'middle' and annie is looking at the right side, not the middle. Then Nene comes over thinking she can look to see what is wrong with Kiyo. Probably wondering why Kiyo didn't ask his dear mom.
