Well, considiring russia cheats every year, serbia and turkey and greece get high votes because of their immigrants to western Europe, Sweden at least play fair and square!
This was my first Eurovision song, I found it in June of 2009 one month after the contest, it was the one of first things I saw on my first computer, ever since than I fell in love with this song and Sweden. I can't believe it's been 7 years of dreaming but today I finally made it to Sweden. I hope I get to see Malena Ernman while I'm here. Sverige är min plats på jorden.
I think it is the fate of "Cross Over" singers, they struggle with their "Pop Voice" because they apply their singing technique to the Pop part, the result is very artifical. Some comment that she stares and has strange face movements, because they are used to Pop singers only. It takes more concentration and technique to control the "Opera voice" , that looks artifical too. Otherwise she is a very natural person with great sense of Humor!
This song is brilliant because it's so so camp and reflects the best of Eurovision I feel. So camp, so euro and so dramatic- I can't get enough! She also hits that blue alien 5th element tone towards the bridge- unreal
Mans Zelmerlöw had to have been in Moscow with Hope and Glory before Malena Ernman. The punishment was very severe and the worst came when they eliminated Sweden in Oslo with Anna Bergendahl. They were qualifying at the last minute and the head of the delegation and former representative Christer Bjorkman had to change the voting system in the Melodifestivalen. This is how in 2011 Sweden regained the honor with Eric Saade to continue with Loreen, Robin Stjenberg, Sanna Nielsen, Mans Zelmerlöw etc.
The song is good, but not for a top 10. That year it was for Mans Zelmerlöw and Hope and Glory. Sweden shot themselves in the foot and paid dearly the following year when they cast Anna Bergendahl and This is my Life.
Those were the worst years for Sweden. They were getting worse and worse results until they fail to Qualify next year, then they decided to make changes to the Mello and the rest is history.
11 years later , I wish she did wear the black dress from the national selections in Globen and had 5 backup girls who could match her vocals .. If only !!
I Think she does because shes a very good performer and a brilliant opera singer to i Heard her singing in Sweden to other things "songs" and i love her as a singer and as a person a Lovely lady . I JUST LOVE HER :)
This may be my all-time favourite ESC song. Her smile is simultaneously beautiful, soothing and terrifying. Her voice is both angelic and demonic, the melody and progression are nothing short of epic. I feel like this song played during the Earth’s creation and could easily accompany its destruction.
So this scores 27 with the Juries and 'If I Were Sorry' scores 122! I know they are two different years but come on, Malena's voice is outstanding compared to Frans.
You need to remember that the juries have to rank all the songs of a particular year - this is magnificent, but Malena was competing against "Randajad", "Todas as Ruas do Amor" and "Always", to name just three examples - what was Frans competing against? 2009 was a VERY good year for Eurovision; accordingly, the bar was set higher that year.
Well in 2009, it was impossible for Sweden to gain many points since top 2 were from Scandinavia (Norway & Iceland) and one of them had record breaking points. In 2016, Sweden was the only Scandinavian country in the grand final.
I know I'm 5 years late, but in her defense she usualy sings opera so her voice wasn't really used to short Pop music notes and that's why it sounded weird.
Her real voice only shows through for a few seconds in the second chorus and, by god, it's enough to make me wish they'd let her go all out for the verses too. Her voice really is wonderful, the verses just don't have enough power to make it shine.
Rarely, the fusion of styles as disparate as lyrical and pop give such a magnificent result. And if you add to this the charisma, voice and charm of Malena is unsurpassed,
This is similar to this year's Australian entry "Zero Gravity" by Kate Miller-Heidke, except Kate didn't pull as many weird faces during her performance and her voice was more opera than pop all throughout but both songs still have that dancepop/classical/opera blend in common. And the two songs were released 10 years apart from each other.
One of Sweden's most underrated songs, it's actually my favorite. Love how the entire stage changes into white light, especially the moment at 0:50 is my favorite moment
Can you keep a secret? Can you keep a secret? I'm in love with you Can you make a promise? Can you make a promise? Stay forever true Oh-oh-ohh Then I'm forever yours The voice inside my head is always true And nothing can change that I belong to you And I don't have a choice, when I listen to the voice Cause' I always trust the voice T-T-Tell me what you thinking Tell me what you thinking I just wanna know Tell me what you're dreaming Tell me what you're dreaming Let your feelings show Oh-oh-ohh Then stay and please don't go The voice inside my head is always true And nothing can change that I belong to you And I don't have a choice, when I listen to the voice Cause' I always trust the voice Inside my heart Oh-oh-ohh Then I'm forever yours Je t'aime, amour, quand J'entends la voix (we're waiting on you) Je t'aime, ma vie C'est jamais sans toi (waiting all night to prove it) Je t'aime, amour, quand J'entends la voix Je t'aime, ma vie C'est jamais sans toi Je vis ma vie pour toi, C'est l'universe pour moi (And I don't have a choice, when I listen to the voice) Je t'aime, amour, quand J'entends la voix (Cause' I always trust the voice)
Если учесть, что Грета Тунберг - это дочь участницы Евровидения 2009 Малены Эрнман... то можно предположить, что это все один большой PR проект. Ещё один ненужный факт, который я буду теперь всегда помнить
This is Greta Thunbergs mother. Funny story: Since Malena was a singer making performances in many different countries it recuiered her to fly alot. So Greta made her change to another job which she can do on the spot here in Stockholm, Sweden. (It's true)
@ale ale ssandro Mind blown with the smooth philtrum comment. Just looked that up. Greta defs has it. Makes it even more disgusting how they have groomed this girl.
@@The_Reality_Filter you have entire videos claiming the grenfell tower incident was a ritual sacrifice so you might wanna sit down and read before calling other people fools
Pure magic, especially when you just fell in love. One of the best this year but brutally underrated. Thank you Sweden for keeping the ESC level high. Love from Serbia
This is actually pretty good, I wasnt sure for a brief moment, but I like the high notes and I like the stage craft and effects and crew too, they all are working the stage together.
