Mallāṭal refers to the fourth of the eleven dances (patinoraṭal) as mentioned in the Kaṭalāṭukkāṭai which is a chapter of the Cilappatikāram: an ancient epic authored by Ilango Adigal representing an important piece of Tamil literature.
Mallāṭal is a dance which is based on the fist fight between wrestlers. danced by Māyon and Vānāsuran.
In religion, ethics, philosophy, and psychology "good and evil" is a very common dichotomy. Today the basic dichotomy often breaks down. Here it is shown only how two mighty people fight with each other for their power.
