It is a dance which is based on the fist fight between wrestlers. This too was performed by Lord Kriṣṇaṉ.
The Hindu mythology has it that Lord Kriṣṇaṉ and Kāmaṉ (God of Love) came to the south of India, to rescue Aniruttaṉ* of Tuvārakai, who was in love with a princess called Usai (the grand daughter of the famous king Māveli). Her father imprisons Aniruttaṉ after he comes to know about Usai's love for him. Lord Kriṣṇaṉ and Kāmaṉ enter Usai’s city in the disguise of Pēṭi (transgender) and as tribal artists. They challenge Usai’s father to a wrestling duel with Lord Kriṣṇaṉ in disguise. Kriṣṇaṉ defeats him and releases Aniruttaṉ. Mallāṭal(wrestling) narrates this duel diligently.
