I climbed both Sa Calobra and Formentor in 2019 during the Mallorca 312 bike event. It was an experience. Took me three hours to climb Sa Calobra and 40 minutes to do down on a road bike. Great choice.

As someone who lives in Mallorca for more than 10 years now, this video is really good. Even after extensively exploring the island, there are so many hidden places I haven't visited. I regularly find and save cool spots on Google Maps to visit and record them with my drone. The easiest way to find cool places in Mallorca is to use Google Maps Satellite View, especially in the Serra de Tramuntana (mountain) area. My favorite beach on the island is Platja de Muro (near Alcudia). Probably one of the best and cleanest beaches in Mallorca and it's also very nice looking from the air. It is also fascinating that the same area in the winter and summer can look completely different. In some regions of Mallorca during the winter there are no people at all, so it is very nice to visit and film. A small detail you got wrong in the video: Gorg Blau is actually a "no record" zone, you can fly drones there but not record. However, most people (including me) ignore this. It is vaguely mentioned in the Drones Enaire Map (official Spanish drone map). Also, the albercutx watchtower is technically a no-fly zone but again, everyone flies there without issues. An area you have to be cautious about is the Palma de Mallorca Airport CTR zone. They have DJI aeroscope there, so it is better to not fly there.

Hi! Great video! I’m travelling to Mallorca next week. Question. I registered my drone in The Netherlands and got a number (and I printed this number and placed it on my DJI mini 3 pro). Do I also register in Spain? Or is my NL number (with is part of European policy) enough?

Really interesting video, some spectacular places and inspiration. Was at cap formentor back in 2018 with my mavic pro (with the goats and cyclists) and got some great shots of it, looking forward to visiting there again this summer with my mavic 3 (C1 labelled now) and mini 3 pro, and possibly the Avata it I can fit it all in carry on!

Hey thank you for such an informative video- quick question- How strict were the regulations in Mallorca? I have a mini 3 pro which is sub 250 and planning to appear for the A1 exam and have a liability insurance. I am unable to get a drone operator registration from the Spain AESA website. A total newbie so hoping fir some help

What a truly wonderful tour of Majorca. We were there in the 80s, hired a car and toured around the island - somehow missing all these beautiful locations 😂. To be fair, in pre-internet days it wasn’t quite as easy to find some of the off the beaten track locations; all the more reason to say a huge thank you to you for sharing them 🙏. Love your drone footage, it adds so much more perspective to the landscape.

Here in Majorca right now and thanks to this video i hired a car and we have visited watch tower today, got some m3p footage and can confirm my rc controller came up with a restricted zone near by just as a warning. Almost impossible. I'm a photographer and live in Mallorca and I've more or less had to give up using my drone. It's not EU laws, it's regional Balearic laws. Flying in the Tramuntana mountains is especially problematic as it's a UNESCO world heritage zone. I fly a Mini 2 and could use it a lot more freely last year but it's much more difficult this year after the new regs. Not sure about the rest of Spain though.

@@DMProductions Thanks for the link, but I'm not sure how good their info is. (It says there are no airports in the Balearics for instance, there are at least 4). Part of the issue here is that the regional government has ruled against flying in national parks, which may include the whole of the mountain range (depending on how you define national park) and almost all of the coastline. They say that in the areas you can fly you need to apply for permission at least 10 days before flying, and you need to be registered with the Spanish aviation authority for every drone apart from sub 250g WITHOUT cameras. So DJI minis also need to be registered...BUT... lots of drone people here are saying that they should be subject to EU rules and can't supercede them with their own... the argument continues. Shame as it's a great place to fly, and a decent part of my business. Great video by the way,

Top class video. A few questions if you don't mind. If the only drone I have is the Mini 3 Pro, would it cope with the winds over there, or do I need the Mavic 3 Classic? Do you base yourself in one location and travel to the locations or stay at various locations? If you could give some insight to which town or towns to stay in, that would be great. Thank you sir.

The mini 3 was fine but in some of the higher up areas a mavic 3 classic would give you that confidence as it’s much better in the wind. I also stay close to Alcudia it’s a good base and close to the major places

Worth noting that during the high season there are restrictions for cars getting to the watch tower and the lighthouse. The fines are pretty excessive!

I once flew a helicopter around the island and somewhere in the middle is a Roman amphitheatre which was very remote and completely deserted.
