God? God, if there is one, sat on his hands as usual. Nazi invasion documents captured after the war show that what saved Malta was the realisation that 85% of invasion gliders would have crashed and the same percentage of paratroopers would have landed dead. The Nazis decided they could neutralise Malta by bombing it from the air; which they did with abandon.
