Really cool watching your fermentation process. I know little of how its done in this world but I work in a beer cellar and I have had a few run-ins with spoilage bacteria, even though we ferment everything in airlocked tanks. Many of them are lacto because they are some of the only things that survive the pH drop, though I have tasted some funky things that definitely come from other organisms. Yeast can make some odd flavors when they're stressed, too. Thanks for the vid, I subscribed

That sounds like a fun job! I'll be making some stouts on here in near future. And yea sometimes lacto finds a way no matter what you do. Thanks for watching 🍻

Can you tell me how to get one of those large tri-clamp rings that you weled atop of your keg?

Absolutely. I got mine and all the accessories from mile hi distilling. Glacier tanks is a good site too. Thanks for watching 🥃

That's a nice set up! Thanks for sharing your process. It makes me feel like I'm on the right track. There's a lot to unpack in there. Two quick questions. Did you stir the whole time you were step mashing, and how did you rack the liquid off. It looked like about 9 gal. collected. Nice video 🧡
@FlatwoodsCellars
@FlatwoodsCellars Год назад
Thank you! I like your Rig too. I stirred a lot but not the whole time. I would shut off the fire periodically and it held temps. And yea I lost a few gallons Wheat is a pain to strain. I was using a filter bucket system. A fruit press would be ideal. Thanks for watching.
@BuildingADrink

Hmmm, I like the strainer idea for loading your boiler.

Great vid!! I’m a newbie and am wondering if there is something on the market that you would compare it to? Thinking it might be better to taste something that would be similar instead of just jumping in. Thanks
@FlatwoodsCellars
@FlatwoodsCellars Год назад
Hey bro! Well there's plenty of sour mash out there. But probably not many all wheat. I'm looking myself. I'd like to compare it. Thanks for watching!
